    Sammanfattning : Over the past decade, the development of macromolecular drugs based on peptides, proteins and nucleic acids has increased the interest in microparticulate drug delivery, i.e., the delivery of drug systems in the nanometer and micrometer ranges. LÄS MER

  2. 12. Environment-Sensitive Multifunctional Drug Delivery Systems

    Författare :Jian Qin; Mamoun Muhammed; Marcus Textor; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Materials chemistry; Materialkemi;

    Sammanfattning : Drug delivery systems (DDS) with multiple functionalities such as environment-sensitive drug release mechanisms and visualization agents have motivated the biomedical community as well as materials chemists for more than a decade. This dissertation is concerned with the development of nanoparticles for multifunctional DDS  to tackle several crucial challenges in these complex systems, including polymeric nanospheres which respond to temperature change, superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles/polymeric composite for magnetic resonance imaging contrast agents and drug carriers, immunoresponse of nanomaterials and injectable magnetic field sensitive ferrogels. Sammanfattning : The use of bone-anchored implants is today a routine treatment for patients with normal regenerative capacity. However, there is an ongoing development within implant research to improve the osseointegration of implants. LÄS MER

  4. 14. Characterisation of an in vitro dissolution method for assessment of novel pulmonary drug delivery systems : With a focus on controlled release systems

    Författare :Irès van der Zwaan; Göran Frenning; Per Hansson; Rebecca Fransson; Alessandra Rossi; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Pulmonary drug delivery; in vitro dissolution; mechanistic model; controlled release; physiologically based biopharmaceutics modelling;

    Sammanfattning : Pulmonary drug delivery has been used for decades to treat local diseases like asthma. When using the pulmonary route to deliver drugs, several important lung features are being used, such as a large surface area available for absorption, high organ vascularization, and a thin blood-alveolar barrier.
