  1. 21. In vivo quantification of extrastriatal dopamine D2 receptors in the human brain

    Författare :Hans Olsson; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :FLB 457; positron emission tomography; pituitary; receptor density; affinity; benzamide; Scatchard; saturation; receptor occupancy;

    Sammanfattning : The dopamine D2 receptor subtype attracts considerable attention in research on the patophysiology and drug treatment of several neuropsychiatric disorders, such as schizophrenia and Parkinson's disease. The brain imaging technology Positron Emission Tomography (PET) has since long allowed for reliable quantification of the high density of dopamine D2 receptors in large brain structures such as the neostriatum. 2. 22. Nicotine sensitization and the effects of extended withdrawal - behavioral, neurochemical and electrophysiological studies in the rat

    Författare :Julia Morud; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Abstinence; Dopamine; Elevated plus-maze; GABA; Inhibitory control; Nicotine; Nucleus accumbens; Sensitization;

    Sammanfattning : Tobacco use is one of the primary factors for global burden of disease and often results in life-long nicotine addiction, only a small percentage users are able to maintain cessation. The life-long addiction together with a high relapse risk might be connected to drug-induced altered neural circuits. LÄS MER

  3. 23. Dopamine receptors in the rat brain

    Författare :Mi Hillefors-Berglund; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Dopamine D2 receptors; Dopamine D3 receptors; Rat; Autoradiography; [3H]7-OH-DPAT; [3H]PD 128907; Caudate-putamen; Subcortical limbic area; Islands of Calleja; CGS 21680; Toluene; Neurotensin; Asphyxia; Aging; Magnesium; GTP;

    Sammanfattning : Dopamine receptors belong to a large superfamily of G protein-coupled receptors and consist of the D1, D2, D3, D4, and D5 receptors. The D2, D3, and D4 receptors belong to the D2 receptor family which is characterized by having a large third cytoplasmic loop and a short C-terminus projecting into the cytosol, and by inhibiting the enzyme adenylyl cyclase. 4. 24. Adenosine A2A receptors : characterization, localization, G protein coupling and interactions with dopamine D2 receptors

    Författare :Björn Kull; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Adenosine receptors; receptor-receptor interactions; G proteins; species differences;

    Sammanfattning : Adenosine not only has a role in cellular energy metabolism but is recognized as an intercellular messenger with an important function in physiology and pathophysiology. It exerts its effects via a family of G protein coupled receptors of which four members have been cloned from several species: A, A2A, A2B and A3. LÄS MER

  5. 25. On the mechanisms and physiological function of somatodendritic dopamine release in substantia nigra

    Författare :Filip Bergquist; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Calcium channels; dopamine release; microdialysis; rotarod; SNARE; striatum; substantia nigra;

    Sammanfattning : Somatodendritic release of neurotransmitters is a neuronal function that is poorly understood in comparison with the more abundant terminal release. This study aimed at characterising somatodendritic dopamine release in substantia nigra in terms of release mechanisms and possible physiological function in motor control. LÄS MER
