  1. 1. Dopamine receptors in the rat brain

    Författare :Mi Hillefors-Berglund; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Dopamine D2 receptors; Dopamine D3 receptors; Rat; Autoradiography; [3H]7-OH-DPAT; [3H]PD 128907; Caudate-putamen; Subcortical limbic area; Islands of Calleja; CGS 21680; Toluene; Neurotensin; Asphyxia; Aging; Magnesium; GTP;

    Sammanfattning : Dopamine receptors belong to a large superfamily of G protein-coupled receptors and consist of the D1, D2, D3, D4, and D5 receptors. The D2, D3, and D4 receptors belong to the D2 receptor family which is characterized by having a large third cytoplasmic loop and a short C-terminus projecting into the cytosol, and by inhibiting the enzyme adenylyl cyclase. 2. 2. Multimethodological imaging studies of pathophysiological mechanisms in human epilepsy

    Författare :Carolina Ciumas; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Although the pathophysiological mechanisms of human epilepsy are extensively investigated, many questions remain unanswered. One is whether idiopathic generalized epilepsies (IGE) have anatomical substrates. Another is if the functional integrity of the limbic networks in mesial temporal lobe epilepsy (MTLE) is impaired. 3. 3. Multimethodological brain imaging studies of human epilepsy

    Författare :Carolina Ciumas; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Although the pathophysiological mechanisms of human epilepsy are extensively investigated, many questions remain unanswered. One is whether idiopathic generalized epilepsies (IGE) have anatomical substrates. Another is functional integrity of the limbic networks outside the epileptogenic region in mesial temporal lobe epilepsy (MTLE). LÄS MER

  4. 4. The subthalamic nucleus in motor and affective functions : An optogenetic in vivo-investigation

    Författare :Adriane Guillaumin; Åsa Wallén-Mackenzie; Konstantinos Meletis; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Subthalamic nucleus; optogenetics; basal ganglia; locomotion; Parkinson s disease; aversion; Neuroscience; Neurovetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : The basal ganglia form a group of subcortical interconnected nuclei involved in motor, limbic and cognitive functions. According to the classical model of the basal ganglia, two main pathways exert opposing control over movement, one facilitating movement and the other suppressing movement. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Organization of brain circuits that control motivated behaviors

    Författare :Ourania Tzortzi; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Eudemonia (Greek: εὐδαιμονία) is an anthropocentric term describing the absolute well-being in the Aristotelian ethics, along with the terms “arête” (virtue) and “phronesis” (wisdom from an ethical and practical point of view). Arête and virtue will guide ones decisions to promote future eudemonia and ultimately survival. LÄS MER
