  1. 1. Dopamine receptors in the rat brain

    Författare :Mi Hillefors-Berglund; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Dopamine D2 receptors; Dopamine D3 receptors; Rat; Autoradiography; [3H]7-OH-DPAT; [3H]PD 128907; Caudate-putamen; Subcortical limbic area; Islands of Calleja; CGS 21680; Toluene; Neurotensin; Asphyxia; Aging; Magnesium; GTP;

    Sammanfattning : Dopamine receptors belong to a large superfamily of G protein-coupled receptors and consist of the D1, D2, D3, D4, and D5 receptors. The D2, D3, and D4 receptors belong to the D2 receptor family which is characterized by having a large third cytoplasmic loop and a short C-terminus projecting into the cytosol, and by inhibiting the enzyme adenylyl cyclase. 2. 2. Regulation by glutamate- and adenosine-receptors of dopamine and acetylcholine release from rat striatal slices

    Författare :Shaoyu Jin; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :striatum; dopamine; acetylcholine; adenosine receptors; glutamatereceptors. ISBN 91-628-2599-2;

    Sammanfattning : The striatum, which is critically involved in sensory motor integration, receives an excitatory glutamatergic input from the cerebral cortex and the thalamus. The effects of the glutamatergic stimulation are modulated by dopamine (DA) released from a prominent dopaminergic input, acetylcholine (ACh) released from cholinergic interneurons and by the ubiquitous neuromodulator adenosine. 3. 3. Physiology and pathophysiology of central adenosine A1 and A2A receptors

    Författare :Linda Halldner Henriksson; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Adenosine; A1 receptor; A2A receptor; knock-out mouse; in situ hybridization; receptor autoradiography; sleep; hypoxia-ischemia; behavior; motor activity; caffeine; tolerance;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis was to further investigate the individual roles of central adenosine A1 and A2A receptors in the physiological and pathophysiological effects of adenosine. In addition, the characteristics of different adenosine receptor ligands were studied. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Adenosine action on platelets : pharmacological and functional studies in human platelets in vitro

    Författare :Ulla Söderbäck; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :adenosine; adenosine analogs; methylxanthines; cyclic AMP; ADP; dipyridamole; platelet-rich plasma; whole blood aggregatron; human. Ulla SöderbäckAdenosine action on platelets. Pharmacological and functional studies in human pl;

    Sammanfattning : The endogenous purine adenosine (ADO) is known to inhibit platelet aggregation in vitro through increased platelet levels of cyclic AMP. This effect is ADO-A2-receptor-mediated through stimulation of membrane adenylyl cyclase. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Sex differences in acute and chronic experimental pain models

    Författare :Lili Li; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :estrogen;

    Sammanfattning : Sex differences in response to noxious stimuli and in the development of chronic pain have been increasingly recognized and studied in humans and laboratory animals. In the clinic, extensive evidence indicates that there are a large number of chronic pain conditions that have higher prevalence in women than in men and some of these conditions, such as migraine and temporomandibular pain disorder, are also affected by the menstrual cycle.
