  1. 1. Studies of Giardia-host interactions: role of cysteine-rich surface proteins

    Författare :Dimitra Peirasmaki; Staffan Svärd; Steven Singer; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Giardia; intestinal parasite; parasite infection; host-parasite interaction; virulence factors; HCMPs; cysteine-rich proteins; secretome; proteome;

    Sammanfattning : Giardia intestinalis is a eukaryotic parasite that colonizes the small intestine of humans and animals causing the diarrheal disease known as giardiasis. This parasite is not invasive and does not internalize into host cells but it rather attaches to the brush border surface of the small intestine disrupting the epithelial barrier. LÄS MER

  2. 2. NMR STUDIES ON STRUCTURE AND DYNAMICS OF TWO-DOMAIN PROTEINS

    Författare :Houman Ghasriani; Biofysikalisk kemi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Fysikalisk kemi; Biochemistry; Metabolism; Biokemi; metabolism; Physical chemistry; Molekylär biofysik; CRISP-3; NMR; 3D-structure; NMR relaxation; Molecular biophysics; Prostate cancer; EGF module; PSP94; Beta-microseminoprotein; Protein S;

    Sammanfattning : The general objective of the present thesis work was to examine 3-dimensional structure as well as the motional properties of two different types of two-domain proteins by solution-state NMR. One of the major tasks of this thesis work was to investigate the domain orientation of these molecules by employing residual dipolar couplings (RDC) which can be used as orientational restraints for increasing the accuracy of protein structures determined by NMR. 3. 3. Cell cycle and differentiation in Giardia Lamblia

    Författare :David S Reiner; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Giardia lamblia is the major cause of waterborne diarrhea worldwide. Giardiasis is initiated by ingestion of cysts, which after passing through the stomach are triggered to excyst. Excystation, or awakening from dormancy, is central to successful colonization of the host. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Host organelles and transporters in underground plant-pathogen interactions

    Författare :Fredrik Dölfors; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Nyckelord :LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis covers studies of three different soilborne plant pathogens, the two fungi, Rhizoctonia solani and Verticillium longisporum, and the protist Plasmodiophora brassicae, as well as their host responses. Based on genome sequence analysis of the pathogens and their plant hosts, different effectors and plant defence factors were predicted. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Rhizoctonia solani and sugar beet responses : genomic and molecular analysis

    Författare :Louise Andersson; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Nyckelord :LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : The soil-borne basidiomycete Rhizoctonia solani (strain AG2-2) incite root rot disease in sugar beet (Beta vulgaris). The overall objective of this thesis work was to enhance the genomic knowledge on this pathogen and induced responses in the host to promote breeding of better performing cultivars. The AG2-2IIIB R.
