  1. 21. A Systems perspective of Waste and Energy - Strengths and Weaknesses of the ORWARE Model

    Författare :Ola Eriksson; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Sammanfattning : Waste management of today in Sweden is a complex phenomenonthat demands for a scientific and systematic approach. Thecomplexity is a result of a wide variety of actors,technologies, and impact on the environment, health, and theeconomy. Waste management also has a high relevance withrespect to energy. There are direct connections as e. LÄS MER

  2. 22. Energy Harvesting and Energy Storage for Wireless and Less-Wired Sensors in Harsh Environments

    Författare :Elof Köhler; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Piezoelectric; coupled harvester; Thermoelectric; harsh environment; piezoelectric harvester; Energy harvester; supercapacitor; Thermoelectric harvester;

    Sammanfattning : Engineering requires sensors to control and understand the environment. This is particularly important in harsh environments. The drawbacks, especially in gas turbines is the complexity of installing a wired sensor and the weight of the wires. This makes wireless sensors attractive. LÄS MER

  3. 23. Real-time breath gas analysis of carbon monoxide : laser-based detection and pulmonary gas exchange modeling

    Författare :Ramin Ghorbani; Florian M. Schmidt; Anders Blomberg; Christoffer Boman; Staffan Schedin; Jonathan Beauchamp; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; carbon monoxide CO ; pulmonary gas exchange; computational modeling; real-time breath gas analysis; single-exhalation profile; laser absorption spectroscopy; nonlinear least-squares fitting; breath sampling; baseline level; diurnal variation; healthy population; exposure study; fysik; Physics; Physiology; fysiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Breath gas analysis is a promising approach for non-invasive medical diagnostics and physiological monitoring. Real-time, breath-cycle resolved biomarker detection facilitates data interpretation and has the potential to improve the diagnostic value of breath tests as exhalation profiles carry spatiotemporal information about biomarker origin and gas exchange in the respiratory tract. 4. 24. Lanthanide-mediated C-F Bond Activation Method Development and Mechanistic Investigation

    Författare :Mario Janjetovic; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; C-F bond activation; fluorine chemistry; lanthanides; single-electron transfer reagent; Lewis acid; chemoselectivity; synthetic method; catalysis;

    Sammanfattning : The use of transition-metals and main-group Lewis acids has proven to be an outstanding source for activation and subsequent functionalization of fluorinated compounds. However, the first is mainly limited to C(sp2)–F bonds which partially are activated by an adjacent heteroatom, and the latter is limited to simple C(sp3)–F bonds due to particularly strong Lewis acid character. 5. 25. Monitoring primary carbon metabolism in plants using heavy isotope labelling and mass spectrometry : ¹³CO₂ labelling, detection and estimation in intact plants

    Författare :Pernilla Linden; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Nyckelord :LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis covers the possibilities and limitations of studying primary metabolism in intact plants, with special focus on heavy isotope labelling and mass spectrometry methodology. In paper I, a series of Arabidopsis thaliana mutants lacking one or both genes of mitochondrial malate dehydrogenase (mMDH characterised) were characterised. LÄS MER
