  1. 1. Surface Reactivity and Electronic Structure of Metal Oxides

    Författare :Anneli Önsten; Ulf Karlsson; Anne Borg; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; oxides; surfaces; defects; cuprous oxide; zinc oxide; magnetite; water; OH; sulfur dioxide; photoelectron spectroscopy; scanning tunneling microscopy; Material physics with surface physics; Materialfysik med ytfysik;

    Sammanfattning : The foci of this thesis are the metal oxides Cu2O, ZnO and Fe3O4 and their interaction with water and sulfur dioxide (SO2). The intention is to study SO2-induced atmospheric corrosion on a molecular level. All studies are based on photoelectron spectroscopy (PES) and scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) measurements. 2. 2. In-situ Studies of Spontaneous Potential Oscillations during Electrochemical Deposition of Copper and Cuprous Oxide

    Författare :Sofia Leopold; Jay Switzer; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Inorganic chemistry; Spontaneous potential oscillations; electrochemical deposition; in-situ pH measurement; in-situ confocal Raman measurement; copper and cuprous oxide; Oorganisk kemi; Inorganic chemistry; Oorganisk kemi; Inorganic Chemistry; oorganisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : Self-oscillating behaviour in alkaline Cu(II)-lactate and -tartrate systems has been investigated by in-situ pH and confocal Raman spectroscopy measurements. Formation of Cu(II)-lactate and -tartrate complexes is a key factor underlying the self-oscillations. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Experimental investigations of model catalytic surface reactions on metal and metal oxide surfaces

    Författare :Kess Marks; Henrik Öström; Ellen Backus; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; kemisk fysik; Chemical Physics;

    Sammanfattning : In the development of renewable energies catalysis plays an important role, for example in the production of H2 gas that drives fuel cells, or in the decomposition of annoying by-products of renewable energy production. Most catalysts and catalytic processes currently used in the industry have their roots in macroscopic empirical investigations and trial and error-based optimization. LÄS MER

  4. 4. The initial atmospheric corrosion of copper and zinc induced by carboxylic acids : Quantitative in situ analysis and computer simulations

    Författare :Harveth Gil; Christofer Leygraf; Johan Tidblad; Stuart Lyon; KTH; []

  5. 5. Experimental femtosecond-laser based investigations of model catalytic surface reactions

    Författare :Kess Marks; Henrik Öström; Stefano Bonetti; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; kemisk fysik; Chemical Physics;

    Sammanfattning : In order to be able to design novel catalytic processes more efficiently, detailed understanding of the catalyst-reactant interaction and the dynamics of the microscopic reaction steps is needed. The present thesis aims to contribute to the fundamental understanding of catalyst reactant systems by means of experiments using model systems in Ultra High Vacuum (UHV). LÄS MER
