    Sammanfattning : The use of renewable wood-based fuel has been increasing in the last few decades because it is said to be carbon neutral. However, wood-based fuel, and especially used wood (also known as recycled wood or waste wood), is more corrosive than virgin wood (forest fuel), because of higher amounts of chlorine and heavy metals.     Sammanfattning : The overall aim of this thesis was to investigate the effects of feed and storage time on meat quality. To study the effect of feed, chicken were fed seven steam-pelleted or nonpelleted rapeseed (RS) diets with different RS inclusion levels (0, 80, 160, and 240 g/kg) for 34 days, and the dietary effects on meat yield, fatty acid composition in meat, and the expression of lipid metabolism-related genes in liver were determined.     Sammanfattning : The first part of the thesis covers the development and utilization of electronically modified (pentaarylcyclopentadienyl)Ru-complexes in the racemization of secondary alcohols. This study revealed that the electronic properties of the substrate were the main factors dictating whether β-hydride elimination or hydride re-addition becomes the rate-determining step of the racemization process.
