  1. 26. Regulation of Hsp70 function by nucleotide-exchange factors

    Författare :Naveen Kumar Chandappa Gowda; Claes Andréasson; Gary Jones; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Heat shock proteins Hsps ; Hsp70; Molecular chaperones; Nucleotide-exchange factors NEFs ; Protein quality control PQC ; Proteostasis; Ubiquitin-proteasome system; Cell Biology; cellbiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Protein folding is the process in which polypeptides in their non-native states attain the unique folds of their native states. Adverse environmental conditions and genetic predisposition challenge the folding process and accelerate the production of proteotoxic misfolded proteins. LÄS MER

  2. 27. The calcitonin gene family of peptides : receptor expression and effects on bone cells

    Författare :Susanne Granholm; Ulf Lerner; Pernilla Lundberg; Göran Andersson; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; CT family of peptides; osteoclast differentiation; bone resorption; CTR; CRLR; RAMPs; Cell biology; Cellbiologi;

    Sammanfattning : The calcitonin gene family of peptides consists of calcitonin (CT), two calcitonin gene related peptides (α-CGRP, β-CGRP), adrenomedullin (ADM), amylin (AMY), three calcitonin receptor activating peptides (CRSP1-3) and intermedin/adrenomedullin2 (IMD). These peptides bind to one of two G protein -coupled receptors, the calcitonin receptor (CTR) or the calcitonin receptor-like receptor (CRLR). LÄS MER

  3. 28. Histone H1 : Subtypes and phosphorylation in cell life and death

    Författare :Anna Gréen; Ingemar Rundquist; Peter Söderkvist; Rolf Ohlsson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Cell biology; Cellbiologi;

    Sammanfattning : The genetic information of a human diploid cell is contained within approximately 2 metres of linear DNA. The DNA molecules are compacted and organized in various ways to fit inside the cell nucleus. Various kinds of histones are involved in this compaction. One of these histones, histone H1 is the topic of the present thesis. LÄS MER

  4. 29. Cross-linked Profilin:actin - A tool to study actin dynamics in non-muscle cells

    Författare :Staffan Grenklo; Roger Karlsson; Dan Lindholm; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; actin dynamics; profilin; actin; Profilin-actin complex; Cell motility; synaptic vesicle trafficing; Far western; fluorescence microscopy; Cell biology; Cellbiologi;

    Sammanfattning : The microfilament system, consisting of actin and a number of auxiliary proteins, is fundamental for cell motility. Its dynamic organization depends on receptor-mediated signals, leading to rapid polymerizations and depolymerizations of actin. LÄS MER

  5. 30. Interaction Between Drosophila melanogaster mbn-2 Cells and Bacteria

    Författare :Karin Johansson; Kenneth Söderhäll; Lage Cerenius; Martin Bilej; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Cell biology; Drosophila; innate immunity; bacteria; host - pathogen interaction; Cellbiologi; Cell biology; Cellbiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Innate immunity relies on a repertoire of germline-encoded non-rearranging pattern recognition receptors that bind to invariant microbial surface molecules. This event initiates a number of signal transduction cascades that lead to humoral and cellular defense responses like synthesis of antimicrobial peptides, phagocytosis and coagulation – mechanisms that efficiently fight infectious microorganisms and have been evolutionary conserved to exist in parallel with the antibody-based adaptive immunity found in vertebrates.
