  1. 21. CD93 in regulation of vascular function and tumour progression

    Författare :Kalyani Vemuri; Anna Dimberg; Pipsa Saharinen; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; CD93; Tumour angiogenesis; Vascular permeability; Endothelial junctions; Cancer; Glioblastoma; Metastasis;

    Sammanfattning : To achieve successful vascular targeting in cancer, a better understanding of the molecular mechanisms that lead to tumour vascular abnormalities is required.  The transmembrane protein CD93 is highly expressed in the vasculature of several tumours including glioblastoma and has emerged as a potential anti-angiogenic target. 2. 22. Herpes Simplex Virus 1 DNA replication and its role in recombination and transcription

    Författare :Ka-Wei Tang; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Herpes Simplex Virus 1; DNA replication; DNA recombination; Transcription;

    Sammanfattning : Herpes simplex virus 1 (HSV-1) is one of nine different herpesvirus infecting man. They are all capable of establishing a life-long latent state following the primary infection. HSV-1 as well as other herpesviruses may reactivate from the latent state and give rise to a productive infection with clinical symptoms or asymptomatic shedding. LÄS MER

  3. 23. Regulation of RNA Editing : The impact of inosine on the neuronal transcriptome

    Författare :Mikaela Behm; Marie Öhman; André Gerber; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; RNA editing; ADAR; miRNA; Neuron; Brain development; Synapse; Molecular Biology; molekylärbiologi;

    Sammanfattning : The transcriptome of the mammalian brain is extensively modified by adenosine to inosine (A-to-I) nucleotide conversion by two adenosine deaminases (ADAR1 and ADAR2). As adenosine and inosine have different base pairing properties, A-to-I RNA editing shapes the functional output of both coding and non-coding RNAs (ncRNAs) in the brain. LÄS MER

  4. 24. Plasminogen : a pleiotropic inflammatory regulator in radiation-induced wound formation and wound repair

    Författare :Mahsa Fallah; Tor Ny; Malgorzata Wilczynska; Robert Medcalf; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : The plasminogen activator (PA) system plays important roles in many physiological and pathological processes, including inflammation and wound healing. Plasmin, the central component of the PA system, is a broad-spectrum serine protease that is derived from its inactive precursor form, plasminogen. LÄS MER

  5. 25. Statins, Lipids, and Mutations: Consequences for the Heart and Immune System

    Författare :Emil G. Ivarsson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; CAAX Proteins; Statins; RHO Proteins; Dilated Cardiomyopathy;

    Sammanfattning : CAAX proteins are a group of proteins that undergo a three-step protein maturation process that renders the proteins carboxyl-terminus hydrophobic and prone to localize to cellular membranes, where they have their primary function. The first step in this process is called prenylation, which is the covalent attachment of a lipid, either a 15-carbon farnesyl or a 20-carbon geranylgeranyl lipid, to the carboxyl-terminal cysteine residue by the enzymes farnesyltransferase (FTase) and geranylgeranyltransferase type I (GGTase-I), respectively.
