11. Mass-Transport through Interfaces
Sammanfattning : Many of the products in our daily life consist of layered structures, where packaging materials and wound care products can be mentioned as examples. These structures often consist of different kind of polymeric materials and between these materials interfaces are formed. LÄS MER
12. Body fat distribution, inflammation and cardiovascular disease
Sammanfattning : Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is one of the major health issues of our time. The prevalence of CVD is increasing, both in industrialized and in developing countries, and causes suffering and a decreased quality of life for millions of people worldwide. LÄS MER
13. Muscle mass and physical function in ageing : the effects of physical activity and healthy diet
Sammanfattning : Ageing is associated with a gradual deterioration in physical function, accompanied by a decrease in muscle mass, leading to loss of independency. In this respect, physical activity and healthy diet represent key lifestyle factors with potential to delay onset of age-related physical disability. LÄS MER
14. Muscle function and physical activity in pre-pubertal school children
Sammanfattning : Background: Regular participation in physical activity or organized exercise is regarded as one important lifestyle factor that could improve musculoskeletal health, fitness and body composition. For children and adolescents physical activity is important not only in training of the neuromuscular system, coordination and balance, but in a wider perspective, for adopting a lifestyle that possibly reduces the risk of coronary artery disease, obesity, osteoporosis and other contributors to morbidity and mortality in the population. 15. The importance of body-mass exponent optimization for evaluation of performance capability in cross-country skiing
Sammanfattning : Introduction Performance in cross-country skiing is influenced by the skier’s ability to continuously produce propelling forces and force magnitude in relation to the net external forces. A surrogate indicator of the “power supply” in cross-country skiing would be a physiological variable that reflects an important performance-related capability, whereas the body mass itself is an indicator of the “power demand” experienced by the skier.
