  1. 6. Biologically-Based Interactive Neural Network Models for Visual Attention and Object Recognition

    Författare :Mohammad Saifullah; Arne Jönsson; Christian Balkenius; Anders Lansner; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Biologically-Based Models; Object Recognition; Visual Attention; Interactive Neural Network; Occlusion; Overlapping;

    Sammanfattning : The main focus of this thesis is to develop biologically-based computational models for object recognition. A series of models for attention and object recognition were developed in the order of increasing functionality and complexity. LÄS MER

  2. 7. Learning from Interactions : Forward and Inverse Decision-Making for Autonomous Dynamical Systems

    Författare :Inês de Miranda de Matos Lourenço; Bo Wahlberg; Sandra Hirche; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Intelligent systems; autonomous decision-making; Reinforcement Learning; Markov models; Human-Robot Interaction; Biologically-inspired systems; Electrical Engineering; Elektro- och systemteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Decision-making is the mechanism of using available information to generate solutions to given problems by forming preferences, beliefs, and selecting courses of action amongst several alternatives. In this thesis, we study the mechanisms that generate behavior (the forward problem) and how their characteristics can explain observed behavior (the inverse problem). LÄS MER

  3. 8. Bio-Inspired Self-Organisation in Evolvable Production Systems

    Författare :Dias Ferreira João; Mauro Onori; Luis Ribeiro; José Barata; Niels Lohse; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : The increasing market fluctuations and customized products demand have dramatically changed the focus of industry towards organizational sustainability and supply chain agility. Such critical changes in the strategic vision of the companies inevitably have a direct impact on the shop-floor operational requirements. LÄS MER

  4. 9. Effect of Surface Nanotopography on Blood-Biomaterial Interactions

    Författare :Natalia Ferraz; Marjam Ott; Jaan Hong; Jan Carlsson; Tom Eirik Mollnes; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; nanoporous alumina; nanotopography; biomaterial; platelets; complement system; macrophages; whole blood; inflammatory response; Chemistry; Kemi; Immunobiology; Immunbiologi; Immunologi; Immunology; Materialvetenskap; Materials Science;

    Sammanfattning : Biologically inspired materials are being developed with the aim of improving the integration of medical implants and minimizing non-desirable host reactions. A promising strategy is the design of topographically patterned surfaces that resemble those found in the extracellular environment. LÄS MER

  5. 10. Development of 2-Pyridone-based central fragments : Affecting the aggregation of amyloid proteins

    Författare :Magnus Sellstedt; Fredrik Almqvist; Petri Pihko; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; 2-pyridone; central fragment alteration; multi-component reactions; directed diversity-oriented synthesis; peptidomimetics; amyloid; protein aggregation; pilicide; curlicide; Biorganic Chemistry; bioorganisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : There are many applications of small organic compounds, e.g. as drugs or as tools to study biological systems. Once a compound with interesting biological activity has been found, medicinal chemists typically synthesize small libraries of compounds with systematic differences to the initial “hit” compound.
