  1. 21. Biobased and biodegradable binders for paper and nonwoven

    Författare :Maria Wennman; Mikael S. Hedenqvist; Anna Justina Svagan; Mårten Hellberg; Wim Thielemans; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Polyelectrolyte complex; binder; chitosan; carboxymethyl cellulose; citric acid; nonwoven; tensile strength; hydrophobicity; Polyelektrolytkomplex; bindemedel; kitosan; karboximetylcellulosa; citronsyra; nonwoven; dragstyrka; hydrofobicitet; Fiber- och polymervetenskap; Fibre and Polymer Science;

    Sammanfattning : Nonwovens are textile-like materials with similarities close to paper. One significant sector where nonwovens are used is for single-use products such as wet wipes and hygiene products. With an increasing global population, the manufacturing and use of nonwovens have grown significantly. LÄS MER

  3. 23. Tailoring of Biomaterials using Ionic Interactions : Synthesis, Characterization and Application

    Författare :Björn Atthoff; Jöns Hilborn; Tim Bowden; Mats Andersson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Chemistry; biodegradable polymers; ionomer; water uptake; protein delivery; protein adsorption; protein membrane; cell seeding efficiency; amphiphillic; inner structure; polarized membrane; Kemi;

    Sammanfattning : The interactions between polymers and components of biological systems are an important area of interest within the fields of tissue engineering, polymer chemistry, medicine and biomaterials. In order to create such a biomimetic material, it must show the inherent ability to reproduce or elicit a biological function. LÄS MER

  4. 24. X-ray and neutron μCT of biomedical samples: from image acquisition to quantification

    Författare :Niccoló Peruzzi; Lund Medicinsk strålningsfysik; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; x-ray imaging; neutron imaging; μCT; synchrotron radiation; x-ray phase-contrast; nanoholotomography; x-ray elemental mapping; biomedical applications; virtual histology; biodegradable implants; Mg-alloys; enteric nervous system; peripheral neuropathy; gastroenteric dysmotility; Fysicumarkivet A:2021:Peruzzi;

    Sammanfattning : Even though the validity of x-ray computed tomography in the analysis of biomedical samples is nowadays undisputed, the more recent imaging techniques and more advanced instruments (such as synchrotrons) are still relatively unknown to many medical doctors that could benefit from them.The doctoral work presented in this thesis joins a collective effort from the imaging community to demonstrate potential applications of advanced x-ray and neutron imaging methods to preclinical medical research, with the hope of contributing to reach a “critical mass” in the medical community and in the public opinion as well. 5. 25. Design of new biodegradable polymer matrices for controlled drug delivery

    Författare :Ulrica Edlund; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Polymer chemistry; Polymerkemi;

    Sammanfattning : Conventional drug administration technologies display poorcontrollability, and lead to high plasma concentrations andshort duration times, which frequently lead to adverse effects.Controlled release technology aims at predictable andreproducible delivery of an active substance over an extendedperiod of time, yielding optimal response and prolongedefficiency, and thus offering considerable improvement of manytreatments.
