    Sammanfattning : Peripheral neuropathy includes a wide range of diseases affecting millions around the world, and many of these diseases have unknown etiology. Peripheral neuropathy in diabetes represents a large proportion of peripheral neuropathies. Nerve damage can also be caused by trauma. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Hypoglycaemic neuropathy : Experimental studies in diabetic rats treated witn insulin implants

    Författare :Simin Mohseni; Anders A. F. Sima; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Sammanfattning : Insulin dependent diabetes mellitus is a metabolic disease that causes secondary complications such as peripheral neuropathy. it is generally believed that diabetic neuropathy is due to chronic hyperglycaemia. In order to understand the pathophysiology of diabetic neuropathy many workers have examined nerves from diabetic rats. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Peripheral neuropathy in Lyme borreliosis

    Författare :Eva Kindstrand; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; Lyme borreliosis; neuroborreliosis; acrodermatitis chronica atrophicans; peripheral neuropathy; cranial neuropathy;

    Sammanfattning : Tick-transmitted Lyme borreliosis (LB) is frequently associated with manifestations from the peripheral nervous system. One aim of the thesis was to describe the relationship between peripheral neuropathy and LB by prospective studies of a) LB in some defined neurological conditions with peripheral nerve engagement and b) peripheral neuropathy in the late dermatological LB manifestation acrodermatitis chronica atrophicans (ACA). Sammanfattning : Hyperglycaemia caused by insulin deficiency is believed to play a major role in the de-velopment of neuropathy in diabetic patients. The clinical and pathological features of diabetic neuropathy vary considerably, although sensory and autonomic dysfunctions are the most common characteristics. LÄS MER

    Författare :Trygve Strömberg; Malmö Institutionen för kliniska vetenskaper; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; traumatology; orthopaedics; Surgery; vibrotactile sense.; vibration; Schwann cells; Raynaud’s phenomenon; peripheral neuropathy; pathology; neurone; nerve fibres; muscular weakness; hand; Carpal tunnel syndrome; cold intolerance; Kirurgi; ortopedi; traumatologi; Neurology; neuropsychology; neurophysiology; Neurologi; neuropsykologi; neurofysiologi;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this study was to investigate clinical, pathophysiological and structural aspects of vibration-induced peripheral neuropathy since work with hand-held vibrating tools may lead to progressive neurological and vascular hand symptoms. Symptomatic vibration-exposed men were examined clinically and by neurography, tactilometry, and vibrometry and by measurement of temperature perception thresholds. LÄS MER
