  1. 1. Mind really does matter : The Neurobiology of Placebo-induced Anxiety Relief in Social Anxiety Disorder

    Författare :Vanda Faria; Tomas Furmark; Mats Fredrikson; Predrag Petrovic; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Placebo effect; anxiolysis; SAD; PET; TPH2 G-703T polymorphism; SSRIs; amygdala subregions; prefrontal cortex.; Psychology; Psykologi;

    Sammanfattning : The placebo effect, a beneficial effect attributable to a treatment containing no specific properties for the condition being treated, has been demonstrated in a variety of medical conditions. This thesis includes four studies aimed at increasing our knowledge on the neurobiology of placebo. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Migration of molecules in the brain : focus on the extracellular space and the cerebrospinal fluid

    Författare :Malin Höistad; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Volume transmission; rat; diffusion; striatum; dual-probe microdialysis; delivery; recovery; clearance; uptake; dopamine; metabolism; radiotracer; mannitol; cisterna magna; opioids; peptides; betaendorphin; mu-opioid receptors; mismatch; TH; DBH; immunohistochemistry; fear.;

    Sammanfattning : Three different molecules and three different experimental models were used to study the migration of molecules in the rat brain: a neurotransmitter- dopamine, an extracellular market- mannitol, and a neuropeptide beta-endorphin. Two models in vivo were used to study the diffusion and migration of molecules: dual-probe rnicrodialysis in the striatum, and direct intrastriatal microinjections followed by cerebrospinal fluid sampling from the cisterna magna. 3. 3. The galanin type 2 receptor: molecular biological, histochemical and electrophysiological studies

    Författare :Kang Zheng; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Galanin;

    Sammanfattning : In the present thesis, the aim was to probe the distribution and functions of galanin type 2 receptor (GalR2) in the rodent brain. In order to overcome the lack of a reliable antibody to localize GalR2 by immunohistochemistry, we generated a construct which expresses GalR2 tagged with enhanced GFP (EGFP). LÄS MER
