  1. 1. Dissecting the Microenvironment of Urothelial Bladder Cancer : Therapy, Modelling and Biomarkers

    Författare :Iliana Kyriaki Kerzeli; Sara Mangsbo; Tania de Gruijl; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Immuno-oncology; Tumor immunology; MALT1 inhibition; Urothelial bladder cancer; Tumor microenvironment; Immunologi; Immunology; Oncology; Onkologi; Urologi; Urology;

    Sammanfattning : The complexity of the tumor microenvironment (TME) impacts therapy responses and the survival of cancer patients. The scope of this thesis is to study the effects of immune modulation on tumor-infiltrating leukocytes, and to explore the TME of urothelial cancer to provide the research society with new knowledge and potential therapeutic targets. 2. 2. Immunologic Markers in the Tumor Microenvironment of Classical Hodgkin Lymphoma

    Författare :Alex R. Gholiha; Gunilla Enblad; Rose-Marie Amini; Peter Hollander; Gustaf Hedström; Arjan Diepstra; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Tumor microenvironment; immunohistochemistry; immune checkpoints; Plasma cells; IL-6 cytokine; Proteomics; CD47.;

    Sammanfattning : In classical Hodgkin lymphoma (cHL), cytokine regulation and cellular composition of the tumor microenvironment (TME) is crucial for tumor cell survival. In paper I, we examined the presence of CD138+ plasma cells and IgG4+ plasma cells in diagnostic cHL biopsies with immunohistochemistry (IHC). LÄS MER

  3. 3. Tumor microenvironment : the paradoxical action of fibroblasts

    Författare :Twana Alkasalias; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : The term tumor refers to an abnormal and pathological tissue characterized by a massive cell growth; it comprises various populations of transformed and malignant cells. These cells cross-communicate with each other and with different types of cells in the surrounding microenvironment. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Art of tumor immunity : extricating hypoxia-driven immunosuppression in the solid tumor microenvironment

    Författare :Apple Tay; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : The fate of tumors, from initiation to in situ carcinoma and ultimately metastasis, is intricately tied to the balance between the immune system’s effector cytotoxic and tolerogenic immunosuppressive responses, collectively known as tumor immunity. However, this balance is disrupted by hypoxia, a common characteristic of solid tumors, which drives immunosuppression and contributes to the heterogeneity of the solid tumor microenvironment (TME). 5. 5. Targeting stromal components in the tumor microenvironment for cancer therapy

    Författare :Jieyu Wu; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : In the tumor microenvironment (TME), different cell components crosstalk with each other through various growth factors, cytokines, chemokines, and enzymes. They offered crucial survival signals for tumor cell proliferation and metastasis. LÄS MER
