11. Magnetotransport characterization of epitaxial graphene on SiC
Sammanfattning : Low-temperature magnetotransport is used to characterize graphene grown epitaxially on the silicon face of 4H silicon carbide (SiC/G). Observation of half-integer quantum Hall effect (QHE) in large Hall bars, patterned across several terraces of the SiC substrate, suggest that monolayer graphene grows continuously over defects. 12. Quantum Hall devices on epitaxial graphene: towards large-scale integration
Sammanfattning : Quantum Hall devices have been used as the primary standard of electrical resistance for over two decades, and they are unlikely to be replaced in this role any time soon. The work presented in this thesis was being done towards the goal of establishing epitaxial graphene on silicon carbide as a new material of choice for these devices. LÄS MER
13. Generation and metrology of ultrashort pulses and their application in attosecond science
Sammanfattning : This thesis deals with the dynamical processes in atoms and small molecules initiated by the absorption of ultrashort, coherent light pulses. The studied phenomena takeplace on the femtosecond (1 fs = 10−15 s) and attosecond (1 as = 10−18 s) timescales and critically depend on the properties of the light fields that drive them. LÄS MER
14. Charge and Energy Noise from On-demand Electron Sources
Sammanfattning : On-demand single electron sources (SES) are of key importance for future electronic applications such as metrology or quantum optics with electron. They allow for achieving a controlled, low-fluctuations flow of particles in a coherent mesoscopic conductor. LÄS MER
15. Topological states of matter in low dimensions
Sammanfattning : A central theme in condensed matter physics is the classification and characterization of states of matter. In the recent decades, it has become evident that there exists a large class of quantum mechanical systems that must be classified according to properties deeply rooted in the mathematical field of topology, rather than in terms of which symmetries they break.
