Sammanfattning : This thesis deals with the introduction of district heating in an "ordinary" Swedish town: Mjölby. The process was initiated in 1974 and the decision to build was taken in 1979. Using an ethnographic approach, involving participant observation and interviews, the author studies the means by which the staff, as a part of their everyday work, achieve safety - in their relationships to patients, medical technology and each other.
