  1. 21. Glucocorticoids in the development and homeostasis of T lymphocytes

    Författare :Ahmad Pazirandeh; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Until recently the fact that glucocorticoids (GCs) play an essential physiological role in regulation of the immune system in health and disease was not fully appreciated. The main aims of this thesis were to investigate the effects of physiological nonstressed levels of endogenous GCs on the development, differentiation and homeostasis of T lymphocytes. LÄS MER

  2. 22. T cell Tolerance - Cellular and molecular features of immune regulation

    Författare :Susanna Grundström; Immunologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; transplantation; Immunologi; serologi; serology; Immunology; JAK STAT.; NFkB; suppression; IL-2; superantigen; T cells; tolerance;

    Sammanfattning : The immune system has evolved regulatory mechanisms in order to balance the effects of deleterious immune responses. Such immunological tolerance may be specifically acquired by lymphocytes, although different cells of the immune system participate in the induction and maintenance of tolerance. LÄS MER

  3. 23. Regulation of T cell effector functions in the intestinal mucosa

    Författare :Petra Holmkvist; Slemhinnans immunologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; T cells; memory; intestine; cytokines; differentiation; IL-18; inflammation; antigen presentation;

    Sammanfattning : T lymphocytes are a critical cellular component of the adaptive immune response. They are generated in the thymus from bone marrow derived progenitors, where they undergo commitment to the T cell lineage and differentiate and mature into naïve CD4+ and CD8+ T cells. LÄS MER

  4. 24. An experimental study on the interaction between the neuro-endocrine and immune systems in the gastrointestinal tract

    Författare :Bi-Feng Qian; Eva Ekblad; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; gastrointestinal tract; neuro-endocrine system; substance P; vasoactive intestinal polypeptide; vagus nerves; mucosal immune system; T lymphocytes; cytokines; inflammation; mouse;

    Sammanfattning : The mucosa lining of the gastrointestinal (GI) tract is in immediate contact with food nutrients to allow a rapid and efficient digestion and absorption and at the same time protects against the incessant risk of attack from pathogenic microbes. Maintenance of normal physiological activities in the GI tract is dependent on a number of regulatory interactions between the nervous, endocrine, and immune systems, as well as environmental and genetic factors. 5. 25. Natural killer T (NKT) lymphocytes regulate of intestinal tumor immunity

    Författare :Ying Wang; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; NKT lymphocyte; intestinal tumor; CD1d; colrectal cancer; immunoregulation; α-gagactosylceramide;

    Sammanfattning : CD1d-restricted natural killer T (NKT) lymphocytes are known as potent early regulatory cells of immune responses, acting as a bridge between innate and adaptive immunity. While invariant NKT (iNKT) cells have a protective role in many tumor models, their ability to promote intestinal inflammation, known to enhance intestinal cancer, raised the question if they would be protective in intestinal tumor development.
