  1. 21. A System Perspective on Energy End-Use Measures in a District Heated Region : Renovation of Buildings and Hydronic Pavement Systems

    Författare :Stefan Blomqvist; Louise Ödlund; Patrik Rohdin; Jan Akander; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Sammanfattning : A district heating and cooling (DHC) system can be a viable piece of the puzzle in the efforts of reducing the greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. Especially if the DHC system include combined heat and power (CHP) plants which enable electricity production from renewable resources. LÄS MER

  2. 22. Exploring cellulose as a biomacromolecule for enhanced battery metal ion recovery/recycling

    Författare :Billy W. Hoogendoorn; Richard Olsson; Yuanyuan Li; Mikael S. Hedenqvist; Aji Mathew; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Biomacromolecules; Nanocellulose; metal oxide nanoparticle synthesis; electrodeposition; battery recycling; Fiber- och polymervetenskap; Fibre and Polymer Science;

    Sammanfattning : The research focused on the effects of integrating nanocellulose in the solidification of metal ions into metal oxide particles or metallic electrodeposits.  Firstly, the cellulose was isolated as highly crystalline ca. 15-25 nm thick and 500 nm long fibers from bacterial cellulose using acid hydrolysis and had a negative surface charge. 3. 23. Sustainability performance of blue-green infrastructure across seasons and with various designs

    Författare :Pär Sagrelius; Godecke-Tobias Blecken; Maria Viklander; Erik Glaas; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; VA-teknik; Urban Water Engineering; Centrumbildning - Centrum för dagvattenhantering DRIZZLE ; Centre - Centre for Stormwater Management DRIZZLE ;

    Sammanfattning : The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) affect societal development within multiple sectors, both strategically and at street level. For instance, SDG 6 and SDG 11 have contributed to a shift in urban stormwater management that has traditionally been pipe-based, including only control of runoff volumes, to a more multi-functional nature-based blue-green infrastructure (BGI), where"blue" areas are characterized by (temporarily or permanent) open water and "green" areas by vegetative systems. 4. 24. Airborne particulate matter in a Sub-Saharan Africa city: Nairobi, Kenya, and at an Equatorial high altitude site: Mount Kenya

    Författare :Samuel Mwaniki Gaita; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; X-ray Fluorescence XRF ; Particle Induced X-ray Emission PIXE ; Particulate matter pollutants; Source apportionment; sub-Saharan Africa; Deposition fractions; High- altitude; Free troposphere; Spatial distribution;

    Sammanfattning : In Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA), air quality is gravely understudied despite the existing influential factors such a rapid urbanization and population growth that negatively affect the environment. Majority of urban areas in SSA face challenges that include lack of social services, poor infrastructure development, exponential increase of second-hand vehicles and extensive use of biomass-based fuel for energy needs. 5. 25. Beyond the bright side : Investigating dark aspects of independent entrepreneurship, family entrepreneurship, and corporate entrepreneurship

    Författare :Mohamed A. Genedy; Lucia Naldi; Karin Hellerstedt; David Audretsch; Jönköping University; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Entrepreneurship is often perceived as a driving force for employment, innovation, and knowledge creation and is linked to poverty alleviation and economic growth. While entrepreneurship is often seen as a pathway for economic development and societal welfare, it does not consistently deliver the expected outcomes and, in certain instances, may exacerbate poverty, impede development, and present challenges to societal well-being and equality.
