1. Footbridge Dynamics : Human-Structure Interaction
Sammanfattning : For aesthetic reasons and due to an increased demand for cost-effective and environmentally friendly civil engineering structures, there is a trend in designing light and slender structures. Consequently, many modern footbridges are susceptible to excessive vibrations caused by human-induced loads. LÄS MER
2. Computer Simulations of Polymer Gels : Structure, Dynamics, and Deformation
Sammanfattning : This thesis presents the results of computer simulation studies of the structure, dynamics, and deformation of cross-linked polymer gels. Obtaining a fundamental understanding of the interrelation between the detailed structure and the properties of polymer gels is a challenge and a key issue towards designing materials for specific purposes. 3. Structure and dynamics of complex materials in the water-poor regime
Sammanfattning : In the solid state, molecules are normally ordered in a specific structure. With time, and as a result of influence from the surroundings, solid materials can change their molecular and/or crystal structure and, as a consequence, obtain completely different properties. Water is particularly important in this respect. LÄS MER
4. Structure and Dynamics in Transition Metal Perovskites — An Optical Spectroscopy Study
Sammanfattning : Transition metal oxides with the perovskite structure exhibit a vast number of exotic properties due to the large number of competing degrees of freedom at the Fermi surface. Together with couplings between and correlations within these degrees of freedom, this class of materials is of high interest from both a practical and theoretical point of view. LÄS MER
5. Studies of protein structure, dynamics and protein-ligand interactions using NMR spectroscopy
Sammanfattning : In the first part of the thesis, protein-ligand interactions were investigated using the chaperone LcrH, from Yersinia as target protein. The structure of a peptide encompassing the amphipathic domain (residue 278-300) of the protein YopD from Yersinia was determined by NMR in 40% TFE. LÄS MER
