  1. 6. Immunomodulatory Therapy of Solid Tumors : With a Focus on Monoclonal Antibodies

    Författare :Linda Sandin; Thomas Tötterman; Mangsbo Sara; Fredrik Eriksson; Loskog Angelica; Ola Winqvist; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; in situ checkpoint blockade; antibody-mediated tumor immunotherapy; CTLA-4; CD40; monoclonal antibodies; experimental animal model; Fc gamma receptor; Medical Science; Medicinsk vetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Cancer, historically considered a genetic disease, is currently acknowledged to affect the whole body. Our immune system is one key player that can elicit a response against malignant cells but can also promote tumorigenesis. Tumors avoid immune recognition by creating a suppressive microenvironment and inducing tolerance. LÄS MER

  2. 7. Art of tumor immunity : extricating hypoxia-driven immunosuppression in the solid tumor microenvironment

    Författare :Apple Tay; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : The fate of tumors, from initiation to in situ carcinoma and ultimately metastasis, is intricately tied to the balance between the immune system’s effector cytotoxic and tolerogenic immunosuppressive responses, collectively known as tumor immunity. However, this balance is disrupted by hypoxia, a common characteristic of solid tumors, which drives immunosuppression and contributes to the heterogeneity of the solid tumor microenvironment (TME). 3. 8. Regulation of Platelet-Derived Growth Factor Receptor Signaling and its Targeting in Cancer Therapy

    Författare :Haisha Ma; Johan Lennartsson; Håkan Axelson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; PDGF; PDGFR; Ras; macropinocytosis; Fer; STAT3; HD-PTP; Cbl; ubiquitination; pericyte; vasculature; tumor; ASKA; Biology with specialization in Molecular Cell Biology; Biologi med inriktning mot molekylär cellbiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Overactivity of platelet-derived growth factor receptor (PDGFR) is a frequent event in many types of solid tumors. Therefore, it is of great importance to uncover the mechanisms that regulate PDGF/PDGFR signalling, to develop efficient inhibitors targeting this pathway. LÄS MER

  4. 9. Somatic Genetic Variation in Children: from Mosaicism to Cancer

    Författare :Anders Valind; Avdelningen för klinisk genetik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Somatic Mosaicism; Cancer; Tumor heterogeneity; Neuroblastoma; Wilms Tumor; Rhabdomyosarcoma; Aneuploidy;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis concerns various aspects of somatic mosaicism and genetic intratumor heterogeneity in childhood cancer.In paper I, I show that aneuploidy in itself does not lead to the level of chromosomal instability that is typically seen in malignant cells. This finding strongly argues against the so called autocatalytic theory of carcinogenesis. LÄS MER

  5. 10. Ultrasonic Fluid and Cell Manipulation

    Författare :Mathias Ohlin; Martin Viklund; Hans Hertz; Peter Glynne-Jones; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; 3D cell culture; Acoustic streaming; Acoustofluidics; Cell manipulation; High-resolution imaging; Multi-well; Microplate; Natural killer cell; Piezo; Radiation force; Solid tumor; Solubilization; Spheroid; Standing wave; Temperature control; Transducer; Trapping; Ultrasonic; Fysik; Physics; Biological Physics; Biologisk fysik;

    Sammanfattning : During the last decade, ultrasonic manipulation has matured into an important tool with a wide range of applications, from fundamental cell biological research to clinical and industrial implementations. The contactless nature of ultrasound makes it possible to manipulate living cells in a gentle way, e.g. LÄS MER
