  1. 1. Biodegradable magnesium implants, immunomodulation, and tissue repair/regeneration

    Författare :Heithem Ben Amara; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Adipose tissue; Biodegradable implants; Bone–implant interface; Bone marrow; Inflammation; Cellular mechanotransduction; Gene expression; Immunohistochemistry; Magnesium; Neovascularization; Osseointegration; Soft tissue injuries;

    Sammanfattning : The century-old paradigm of holding fractures with a metallic implant to enable bone repair, known as osteosynthesis, is still used today without alteration. Patients are increasingly being treated with metallic implants made of magnesium (Mg) that secure osteosynthesis and are reabsorbed in situ without the surgical re-entry that requires their permanent analogs. 2. 2. Injuries are not accidents! : an emergency-department population-based epidemiological study of injuries with special reference to trauma recidivism hip fractures and geriatric falls

    Författare :Fredrik Röding; Ulrica Bergström; Marie Lindkvist; Jack Lysholm; Per Morberg; Olle Svensson; Sari Ponzer; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; injury; population; fractures; contusions; sprains; fall injuries; Orthopaedics; ortopedi;

    Sammanfattning : Injury is a major public health problem. In rich countries fall injures now kill more people than all other injury mechanisms together, because of global ageing and large-scale sustainable injury prevention programs for all other injury mechanisms but falls. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Soft Tissue Aspects of the Shoulder Joint

    Författare :Shwan Khoschnau; Hans Rahme; Karl Michaelsson; Lars Adolfsson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; cruciate ligament; shoulder dislocation; polymorphism; collagen; biomechanical properties; rotator cuff tear; shoulder ultrasound; adhesive capsulitis; MRI;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis was to study different aspects of the soft tissues of the shoulder joint. The variation in the quality of the tendons and ligaments can be explained by genetic factors. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Periulnar Injuries Associated with Distal Radius Fractures

    Författare :Johan Scheer; Adolfsson Lars; Magnus Tägil; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Triangular fibrocartilage complex; Distal radius fractures; Wrist injuries; Distal radioulnar joint; Ulnocarpal stability; MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Sammanfattning : Residual dysfunction after a fracture of the distal radius is most often mild but may give rise to significant impairment especially in the younger active population. The symptoms often manifest around the distal ulna when loading the hand or rotating the forearm. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Conducting Polymer-based Biohybrid Materials : Towards Microphysiological Chips and Soft Actuators for Bone Tissue Engineering

    Författare :Danfeng Cao; Edwin Jager; Jose Gabriel Martinez Gil; Jonathan Rossiter; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Sammanfattning : The human body is a complex system, consisting of different types of biomolecules and living matters, such as nucleic acids, proteins, carbohydrates, lipids, serum, cells, tissues, and organs. These complex biomolecules and living matters integrate and interact dynamically to perform and maintain body functions. LÄS MER
