    Sammanfattning : First principle electronic structure theory is used to describe the effect of crystal binding on radiation detectors, electron transport properties, and structural damage induced by intense irradiation. A large database containing general electronic structure results to which data mining algorithms can be applied in the search for new functional materials, a case study is presented for scintillator detector materials. 2. 12. Optical Properties of Low Dimensional Semiconductor Materials

    Författare :Tiantian Han; Ying Fu; Per-Olof Holtz; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Semiconductor; Low dimensional; optics; Physics; Fysik;

    Sammanfattning : This dissertation presents a serial study on optical properties of different semiconductor materials. Three main types of studies are addressed: The role of doping levels of N and Al atoms in the room-temperature photoluminescence (PL) of 4H-SiC films for optoelectronic applications; the use of a basic Monte Carlo method combined with probability calculations of the time-dependent Schroedinger equation to manifest multi-photon absorption and emission of II-VI compound quantum dots (QDs) for bioimaging; a theoretical quantum chemistry approach to study of structure and optical properties of InGaAsN and GaAs clusters for laser technology applications. Författare :Kimberly Dick Thelander; Fasta tillståndets fysik; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Natural science; III-V Semiconductor Materials; Fysik; Kondenserade materiens egenskaper:struktur; phase equilibria; crystallography; thermal and mechanical properties; Condensed matter:stucture; egenskaper termiska och mekaniska ; kristallografi; fasjämvikt; Naturvetenskap; Physics; Nanowires; Vapour Phase Epitaxy; Semiconductory physics; Halvledarfysik;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis describes the epitaxial growth of III-V semiconductor nanowires using Au seed particles, and the design of more complex three-dimensional branched structures from these wires. Growth was performed by metallorganic vapour phase epitaxy, in which precursor molecules for the semiconductor material components are introduced in a low-pressure vapour. LÄS MER

  4. 14. Semiconductor Hetero- and Nanostructures

    Författare :Jonas Ohlsson; Fasta tillståndets fysik; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Heterostructures; Nanowhiskers; Semiconductory physics; Chemical Beam Epitaxy; Nanostructures; Halvledarfysik; Fysicumarkivet A:2001:Ohlsson;

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis, chemical beam epitaxy was used to fabricate nm-sized crystalline structures. Most of the systems were based on heterostructures, i.e., combinations of different kinds of crystalline materials. LÄS MER

    Författare :Karin Westermark; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Physics; Dye-sensitized; nanostructured; electron spectroscopy; Fysik; Physics; Fysik; fysik; Physics;

    Sammanfattning : The properties relevant for electron transfer processes between dye molecules and semiconductor substrates, titanium dioxide (TiO2) and zinc oxide (ZnO), have been studied by means of photoelectron spectroscopy, PES, near edge X-ray absorption spectroscopy, NEXAFS, and resonant photoemission, RPES.For dye-sensitized solar cells, the currently used dyes are ruthenium polypyridine complexes adsorbed to the semiconductor via carboxyl linker groups.
