26. Immunological aspects on cystic fibrosis lung disease
Sammanfattning : In cystic fibrosis (CF) colonization of the airways with Pseudomonas aeruginosa is a major cause of deterioration and death. Host defence fails to clear the invading bacteria, which results in a chronic destructive inflammatory process. LÄS MER
27. Heart preservation
Sammanfattning : In clinical transplantation today, the donor heart is preserved with cold ischemic storage that gives safe preservation for 4 hours. Non-ischemic perfusion preservation is able to preserve the donor heart for 24 hours in pre-clinical studies. The aim of this thesis is to investigate: 1. LÄS MER
28. Secundum atrial septal defect in the adult. Clinical, haemodynamic and electrophysiological aspects
Sammanfattning : Atrial septal defect (ASD) is the most common congenital heart malformation diagnosed in adult life. In this thesis important clinical, haemodynamic and electrophysiological aspects of ASD in the adult are explored. LÄS MER
29. Analysis of Transvascular Transport Phenomena in the glomerular and peritoneal microcirculation
Sammanfattning : The current work is devoted entirely to the study of passive transport phenomena, or more specifically, the more simple diffusion, electric migration and filtration of solute matter and water over glomerular and peritoneal capillary walls. The driving forces behind such trans-capillary transport phenomena have long been assumed to be simple gradients of concentration, hydrostatic pressure and electric potential. LÄS MER
30. Dynamics of the glomerular filtration barrier - Physiological and pathophysiological aspects
Sammanfattning : The dynamic properties of the glomerular filtration barrier (GFB) are of fundamental importance for the understanding of the physiology and pathophysiology of microalbuminuria and proteinuric diseases. In the studies of this doctoral thesis the properties of the rat glomerular filtration barrier were investigated under resting conditions and following a number of challenges using highly sensitive gel filtration chromatography (HPSEC) detection of FITC-Ficoll in serum and urine.
