  1. 6. Development of Neutron Emission Spectroscopy Instrumentation for Deuterium and Deuterium-Tritium Fusion Plasmas at JET

    Författare :Luca Giacomelli; Jan Källne; Thomas Sangster; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Nuclear physics; neutron spectroscopy; MPRu; TOFOR; JET; Radio frequency heating; Count rate; Kärnfysik;

    Sammanfattning : The study of high power fusion plasmas at the JET tokamak has been further enhanced through the development of instrumentation for neutron emission spectroscopy (NES) measurements. This has involved the upgrade of the magnetic proton recoil (MPR) spectrometer used for deuterium-tritium plasmas earlier so that the MPRu can now be also employed for deuterium (D) plasmas. LÄS MER

  2. 7. Water content measurement in woody biomass : using dielectric constant at radio frequencies

    Författare :Ana Marta Marques Duarte da Paz; Erik Dahquist; Pertti Vainikainen; Mälardalens högskola; []
    Nyckelord :Energi- och miljöteknik;

    Sammanfattning : The will for replacement of fossil fuels increased the use of woody biomass as fuel in heating and power plants. An important parameter for the use woody biomass as fuel is the water content of biomass as it influences the heating value and thereby the combustion control and pricing. LÄS MER

  3. 8. Electromagnetic Modeling and Design of Medical Implants and Devices

    Författare :Oskar Talcoth; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Magnetic Resonance Imaging; Implant Safety; Lead Heating; Pacemakers; Thin-wire Approximation; Convex Relaxation; Optimal Sensor Placement; Optimal Measurements; Helix; Sensor Selection; MR Safety; Magnetic Tracking; Fisher Information Matrix;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis covers two topics in biomedical electromagnetics: pacemaker lead heating in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and optimization of sensorpositions in magnetic tracking.The electromagnetic part of pacemaker lead heating during MRI is a resonant phenomenon which is complicated by, among other factors, the wide range of length scales involved in the problem. 4. 9. Device design and process integration for SiGeC and Si/SOI bipolar transistors

    Författare :Erik Haralson; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :Silicon-Germanium SiGe ; SiGeC; heterojunction bipolar transistor HBT ; nickel silicide; selectively implanted collector SIC ; device simulation; SiGeC layer staiblity; high resolution x-ray diffraction HRXRD ; silicon-on.insulator SOI ; self-heating;

    Sammanfattning : SiGe is a significant enabling technology for therealization of integrated circuits used in high performanceoptical networks and radio frequency applications. In order tocontinue to fulfill the demands for these applications, newmaterials and device structures are needed. LÄS MER

  5. 10. Modeling RF waves in hot plasmas using the finite element method and wavelet decomposition : Theory and applications for ion cyclotron resonance heating in toroidal plasmas

    Författare :Pablo Vallejos; Thomas Jonsson; Torbjörn Hellsten; Philippe Lamalle; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Electrical Engineering; Elektro- och systemteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Fusion energy has the potential to provide a sustainable solution for generating large quantities of clean energy for human societies. The tokamak fusion reactor is a toroidal device where the hot ionized fuel (plasma) is confined by magnetic fields. Several heating systems are used in order to reach fusion relevant temperatures.
