16. Short Attosecond Pulse Trains at High Repetition Rates for Novel Pump-Probe and Coincidence Studies
Sammanfattning : This work aims at studying photoionization dynamics from atoms and surfaces at attose time scales. The work was based on development and applications of a high repetition rate High-order Harmonic Generation (HHG) light source that utilizes Optical Parametric Amplification (OPA) laser technology. 17. The photophysics and functions of some naturally occurring carotenoids
Sammanfattning : Carotenoids are one of the most widespread and important group of pigments in Nature and they can act as light-harvesting agents, photoprotectors and antioxidants. Mechanisms of their multiple functions are not fully understood mainly because their complicated photophysics involving ?dark? excited states. LÄS MER
18. Experimental studies of dynamics in gas-phase diatomic molecules. From lifetime-measurements of BaF tofemtosecond pump-probe spectroscopy of Rb2

19. Ultrafast Spectroscopy of Atomic and Molecular Quantum Dynamics
Sammanfattning : An all-pervading feature of the work presented in this thesis is the study of ultrafast dynamics, both theoretically and experimentally, in terms of time-dependent wave functions (wave packets). We have experimentally, by pump-probe fluorescence spectroscopy, examined spin-orbit interactions, by time-tracing molecular wave packets on excited states of diatomic rubidium, and the main channels causing the fast predissociation from one of those states is revealed. 20. Electronic and Vibrational Coherence in Photosynthetic and Model Systems
Sammanfattning : Ultrafast optical response and excitation energy dynamics in light harvesting pigment-protein complexes and in a few model systems have been studied both experimentally and theoretically. Femtosecond light pulses were employed to excite the system and monitor the subsequent time evolution of the transient absorption kinetics and anisotropy. LÄS MER
