  1. 6. Characterization of ERp29 : a novel secretion factor of endoplasmic reticulum

    Författare :Ernest Sargsyan; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : ERp29 is a ubiquitously expressed endoplasmic reticulum protein strongly conserved in mammalian species. The N-terminal domain of ERp29 is similar to the thioredoxin domain of protein disulfide isomerase (PDI) lacking however the double-cysteine active site motif. The C-terminal domain is a novel five-helical fold. LÄS MER

  2. 7. Mucus associated proteins and their functional role in the distal intestine

    Författare :Joakim H. Bergström; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; intestine; mucus; bacteria; MUC2; AGR2; FCGBP; ZG16;

    Sammanfattning : The mammalian intestine, especially the large intestine, harbors complex societies of beneficial bacteria coexisting with the host. This is a mutualistic relationship, where the host provides nutrients and a favorable environment while the bacteria in return ferment indigestible polysaccharides to short chain fatty acids. 3. 8. Fusion activation in murine leukemia virus

    Författare :Michael Wallin; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :MLV; retrovirus; virus entry; membrane fusion; disulphide isomerization;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis describes the fusion activation in Murine leukaemia virus (MLV). During entry of retroviruses into uninfected cells, the viral and cellular membranes fuse. The fusion process is mediated by the viral envelope protein composed of three SU and TM heterodimers. LÄS MER

  4. 9. Genetic and functional studies of MTTP and PLIN2 in relation to metabolic and cardiac dysfunction

    Författare :Anna Aminoff; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Lipids including triglycerides, cholesterol, cholesterol esters and fatty acids are important sources for energy production, act as building blocks for intracellular compartments, are involved in numerous biological pathways and may act as signal molecules. Lipids are transported in blood as lipoproteins between organs, where they are immediately used in cellular processes or stored as cytosolic lipid droplets. LÄS MER

  5. 10. THE ANGIOGENIC RESPONSE IN HYPOXIC HEART. Experimental studies in mice

    Författare :Fei Tian; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :hypoxia; angiogenesis; mice; endoglin; SUMO; PDI;

    Sammanfattning : Coronary artery disease is the leading cause of death in the western world today. Although induction of angiogenesis would appear to be an ideal therapeutic strategy, clinical trials of proangiogenic factors have proved disappointing. LÄS MER
