  1. 6. Uncertainty, variability and environmental risk analysis

    Författare :Monika Filipsson; Tomas Öberg; Bo Bergbäck; Lars Rosén; Linnéuniversitetet; []
    Nyckelord :Contaminated land; exposure assessment; exposure factors; risk analysis; risk perception; uncertainty; variability; probabilistic risk assessment; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; Miljövetenskap; Environmental Science;

    Sammanfattning : The negative effects of hazardous substances and possible measures that can be taken are evaluated in the environmental risk analysis process, consisting of risk assessment, risk communication and risk management. Uncertainty due to lack of knowledge and natural variability are always present in this process. LÄS MER

    Författare :Ulrik Franke; Pontus Johnson; Lars Nordström; Göran Ericsson; João Paulo A. Almeida; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Service Level Agreement; outage costs; Enterprise Architecture; enterprise IT service availability; decision-making; metamodeling; Enterprise Architecture analysis; Bayesian networks; fault trees; Predictive Probabilistic Architecture Modeling Framework; Service Level Agreement; nertidskostnader; Enterprise Architecture; tillgänglighet hos IT-tjänster; beslutsfattande; metamodellering; arkitekturanalys; bayesianska nätverk; felträd; Predictive Probabilistic Architecture Modeling Framework;

    Sammanfattning : Information technology has become increasingly important to individuals and organizations alike. Not only does IT allow us to do what we always did faster and more effectively, but it also allows us to do new things, organize ourselves differently, and work in ways previously unimaginable. 3. 8. Framework for holistic design of ferries focusing on lightweight ice going hulls

    Författare :Harsha Cheemakurthy; Karl Garme; Zuheir Barsoum; Magnus Burman; Jani Romanoff; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; waterborne public transportation; commuter ferry; modular design; platform architecture; operational requirements; sustainable performance index; ice-hull interaction; lightweight ice-going hulls; composite; sandwich structure; ice impact model.; Farkostteknik; Vehicle and Maritime Engineering;

    Sammanfattning : Waterborne public transportation (WPT) is slowly increasing in importance as an active component of public transportation networks in cities. City planners are looking at WPT to overcome urban congestion and pollution. LÄS MER

  4. 9. Predicting the Energy Performance of Buildings : A Method using Probabilistic Risk Analysis for Data-driven Decision-support

    Författare :Tomas Ekström; Avdelningen för Byggnadsfysik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Energy efficiency; Probabilistic risk assessment; Risk analysis; Simulation and modeling; Field measurements;

    Sammanfattning : As most countries worldwide continue to mitigate climate change, one area of focus is a building's energy efficiency. Buildings currently account for approximately 40 per cent of the total energy use in the European Union. One solution for reducing the energy demand from buildings is by continually implementing more stringent building regulations. LÄS MER

  5. 10. Bayesian Inference for Microwave Diagnostics at Joint European Torus

    Författare :Stefan Schmuck; Per Brunsell; Thomas Jonsson; Jakob Svensson; Laurie Porte; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; ECE; Bayesian; Fourier transform; spectroscopy; joint inference; length-scale; Gaussian process; microwave diagnostic; JET; Electrical Engineering; Elektro- och systemteknik;

    Sammanfattning : The major goal of this thesis is to perform Bayesian inference jointly for electron kinetic profiles, a toroidal magnetic field correction, diagnostic sensitivities, and wall reflection properties given noisy measurements of four microwave diagnostics at the tokamak JET. Besides the measurements, this kind of inference considers prior knowledge, like profile length-scales, to update objectively the information about the physics parameters. LÄS MER
