1. Determination of the thermal conductivity of the insulation in district heating mains : Field measurements
Sammanfattning : This thesis concerns the development of a measurement method for determination in the field of the thermal conductivity of the insulation in buried district heating mains. The thermal conductivity of the insulation is calculated from the measured value of the radial heat flow through the heating main, the measured temperature difference across the insulation, and the dimensions of the heating main. 2. Monitoring transport and fate of de-icing salt in the roadside environment : Modelling and field measurements
Sammanfattning : Roads and traffic are a major non-point source of pollutants and may have severe impacts on surface water, groundwater, soil and vegetation. In cold climates, de-icing salt is one such pollutant that may cause increased chloride concentrations and induce other effects on the environment. LÄS MER

4. Energy Usage in Supermarkets - Modelling and Field Measurements
Sammanfattning : This thesis investigates a special type of energy system, namely energy use in supermarkets through modelling, simulations and field studies. A user-friendly computer program, CyberMart, which calculates the total energy performance of a supermarket, is presented. LÄS MER
5. Resonant magnetic perturbation effect on the tearing mode dynamics : Novel measurements and modeling of magnetic fluctuation induced momentum transport in the reversed-field pinch
Sammanfattning : The tearing mode (TM) is a resistive instability that can arise in magnetically confined plasmas. The TM can be driven unstable by the gradient of the plasma current. When the mode grows it destroys the magnetic field symmetry and reconnects the magnetic field in the form of a so-called magnetic island. LÄS MER
