  1. 21. Mechanical characterization and modelling of iron ore pellets

    Författare :Gustaf Gustafsson; Geir Horrigmoe; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Hållfasthetslära; Solid Mechanics;

    Sammanfattning : Transportation and storage are important parts in the process chain for producers of iron ore pellets. Knowledge and optimization of these processes are very important for further efficiency progress and increased product quality. LÄS MER

  2. 22. Recycling of metallurgical by-products within integrated iron and steelmaking : experimental studies of cold bonded by-product pellets

    Författare :Ryan Robinson; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Process Metallurgy; Processmetallurgi;

    Sammanfattning : In recent years as costs for depositing dust and sludge generated in the iron and steel making industry have increased, due to lack of space and increasing environmental restrictions, the need to recycle these solid by- products to avoid depositing costs and to recover valuable metal fractions, is soon becoming a necessary reality. Cold bonded agglomeration is considered to be a well-suited alternative for recycling of steel industry by-product dust and sludge. LÄS MER

  3. 23. Investigation of Sintering Kinetics of Magnetite pellets during Induration

    Författare :TK Sandeep Kumar; Lawrence Hooey; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Process Metallurgy; Processmetallurgi;

    Sammanfattning : One of the measures of development and economy of a nation is its per capita consumption of steel, and the demand is fulfilled by iron ore. In the context of increasing environmental constraints and ores becoming leaner and leaner, recycling and utilization of ore fines becomes necessary. LÄS MER

  4. 24. Fighting flameless fires : Initiating and extinguishing self-sustainedsmoldering fires in wood pellets

    Författare :Ragni Fjellgaard Mikalsen; Vidar Frette; Bjarne C. Hagen; Ulrich Krause; Anne Steen-Hansen; Ulrich Krause; Nieves Fernandez-Anez; RISE; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Fuel storage safety; Industrial fire; Biofuels; Smoldering; Extinguishment; Fire suppression; Fire growth; Fire spread; Heat transfer; Nonlinear dynamics; Complex systems; Combustion; Biomass energy; Synchronization; Oscillations; EMRIS;

    Sammanfattning : Smoldering fires represent domestic, environmental and industrial hazards. This flameless form of combustion is more easily initiated than flaming, and is also more persistent and difficult to extinguish. The growing demand for non-fossil fuels has increased the use of solid biofuels such as biomass. LÄS MER

  5. 25. Occupational exposure during production of wood pellets in Sweden

    Författare :Katja Hagström; Kåre Eriksson; Gunilla Lindström; Paul Demers; Örebro universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Occupational hygiene; wood dust; resin acids; VOC; variability; determinant of exposure; overexposure; dermal exposure; Occupational medicine; Yrkesmedicin; Enviromental Science; Miljövetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : The aims of the studies underlying this thesis were to assess workers’ air exposure to wood dust and various chemicals, and to evaluate the variability in exposure and occupational dermal exposure to resin acids during the production of wood pellets in Sweden. Personal air measurements of wood dust, monoterpenes, resin acids and nitrogen dioxide (as a marker of diesel exhaust), accompanied by area measurements of these substances, VOCs and carbon monoxide, were performed at up to ten plants.
