  1. 1. On the combustion and photolytic degradation products of some brominated flame retardants

    Författare :Gunilla Söderström; Stellan Marklund; Mats Tysklind; Kees Olie; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Environmental chemistry; PBCDD; PBCDF; PBDD; PBDF; PBDE; HBCD; TBBP-A; combustion; photolytic; MSW; Miljökemi; Environmental chemistry; Miljökemi;

    Sammanfattning : Many modern products, especially electronic goods, are protected by brominated flame retardants (BFR). Some of the most common flame retardants are polybrominated diphenylethers (PBDE), tetrabromobisphenol-A (TBBP-A) and hexabromocyclododecane (HBCD). LÄS MER

  2. 2. Trends and exposure of naturally produced brominated substances in Baltic biota - with focus on OH-PBDEs, MeO-PBDEs and PBDDs

    Författare :Karin Löfstrand; Lillemor Asplund; Åke Bergman; Adrian Covaci; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Batlic Sea; Natural production; OH-PBDE; MeO-PBDE; PBDD; Environmental chemistry; Miljökemi; miljökemi; Environmental Chemistry;

    Sammanfattning : The semi-enclosed and brackish Baltic Sea has become heavily polluted by nutrients, anthropogenic organic and inorganic chemicals via human activities. Persistent organic pollutants (POPs) have been thoroughly investigated due to their linkage to toxic effects observed in Baltic biota. There has been far less focus on semi-persistent pollutants e. 3. 3. Polybrominated dibenzo-p-dioxins and furans : from source of emission to human exposure

    Författare :Filip Bjurlid; Jessika Hagberg; Bert van Bavel; Ingrid Ericson Jogsten; Peter Haglund; Örebro universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; PBDD Fs; PCDD Fs; marine mammal; combustion; fire; human milk; occupational exposure;

    Sammanfattning : Brominated flame retardants (BFRs), which are ubiquitous in modern life and the environment, are the major source for polybrominated dibenzo-p-dioxins and furans (PBDD/Fs). The knowledge about PBDD/Fs is lim-ited compared to other environmental pollutants, even though PBDD/Fs show similar toxicity as polychlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxins and furans (PCDD/Fs) which are considered to be among the most toxic man-made substances. 4. 4. Mercury and dioxins in a MercOx-scrubber

    Författare :Carl-Johan Löthgren; Bert Allard; Bert van Bavel; Sven Andersson; Ivars Neretnieks; Örebro universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; waste incineration; flue gas cleaning; PCDD PCDF; PBDD PBDF; wet scrubber; Chemistry; Kemi; Kemi; Chemistry;

    Sammanfattning : The removal of mercury and the absorption of dioxins in an acid wet scrubber have been studied in industrial scale. Hydrogen peroxide is added as an oxidizing agent to the scrubber liquid with the purpose to remove SO2 and enhance the removal of mercury. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Polybrominated dibenzo-p-dioxins : Natural formation mechanisms and biota retention, maternal transfer, and effects

    Författare :Kristina Arnoldsson; Peter Haglund; Patrik Andersson; Walter Vetter; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; polybrominated dibenzo-p-dioxins; PBDDs; Baltic Sea; uptake; retention; maternal transfer; metabolism; bioavailability; natural formation; precursor; bromoperoxidase; bromophenol; photochemical transformation; oxidative coupling; hydroxylated polybrominated diphenyl ethers; Chemistry; Kemi; analytisk kemi; Analytical Chemistry;

    Sammanfattning : Polybrominated dibenzo-p-dioxins (PBDD) and dibenzofurans (PBDF) are a group of compounds of emerging interest as potential environmental stressors. Their structures as well as toxic responses are similar to the highly characterized toxicants polychlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxins. LÄS MER
