  1. 1. Unlocking the Potential of Brewer’s Spent Grain : Sustainable Biorefinery Approach and Value-Added Product Generation

    Författare :Mohsen Parchami; Mohammad J Taherzadeh; Sudip Rakshit; Högskolan i Borås; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Brewer s spent grain; Hydrothermal pretreatment; Organosolv pretreatment; Edible filamentous fungi; Anaerobic digestion; Biorefinery; Resource Recovery; Resursåtervinning;

    Sammanfattning : Brewer’s spent grain (BSG) constitutes 85% of brewing byproducts and 30% of initial malt. In 2021, BSG production reached approximately 37.2 million tons. Owing to its high moisture and nutritional content, BSG is prone to biological deterioration, causing environmental issues when discarded as waste. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Fungi-Based Biorefinery : Valorization of industrial residuals and techno-economic evaluation

    Författare :Gülru Bulkan; Mohammad J Taherzadeh; Mats Galbe; Högskolan i Borås; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Techno-economic analysis; Organosolv; bioethanol; filamentous fungi; food; lignin; fruit; bioactive compounds; Resource Recovery; Resursåtervinning;

    Sammanfattning : Sustainable development of society and industry is necessary for a safer future that is being challenged by environmental pollution, climate change, and scarcity of food and nutrition. Materials considered as waste can be converted into value-added products and energy, hence regained to the economy. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Depolymerization of Lignocellulose by Lytic Polysaccharide MonoOxygenases

    Författare :Madhu Nair Muraleedharan; Paul Christakopoulos; Ulrika Rova; Mats Sandgren; Johan Larsbrink; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Biokemisk processteknik; Biochemical Process Engineering;

    Sammanfattning : Lignocellulose biomass is considered as one of the most potential and sustainable sources for the production of value-added chemicals and fuels while replacing the traditional petroleum resources. In a biorefinery, by employing biochemical conversion processes,cellulose present in the biomass is broken down into monomeric sugars which can belater converted into fuels or chemicals. LÄS MER
