   Sammanfattning : Besides the constitutively expressed nitric oxide synthase (NOS) in endothelial cells, vascular smooth muscle cells (SMC) have the potential to express the inducible isoform of NOS (iNOS). Given the important effects of nitric oxide and the high output of this enzyme, expression of iNOS in SMC and its pathophysiological significance were investigated in the present study. LÄS MER

HPV is intrinsic to the pulmonary vascular smooth muscle cell, but can be modulated by several vasoactive substances, as for example endothelium derived nitric oxide (NO) and endothelin-1 (ET-1).
