  1. 1. Notch signalling in carcinogenesis : With special emphasis on T-cell lymphoma and colorectal cancer

    Författare :Jonas Ungerbäck; Peter Söderkvist; Ola Hermanson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Notch signalling; T-cell lymphoma; colorectal cancer; Wnt signalling; transcription; Medical cell biology; Medicinsk cellbiologi;

    Sammanfattning : The Notch signalling pathway is an evolutionary conserved pathway, named after the Notch receptors, Notch1-4 in mammals, which upon cell-cell contact and ligand binding releases the intracellular domain (NICD). NICD translocates into the nucleus where it binds the transcriptional repressor RBP-Jk, which together with co-activators belonging to the Mastermind-like family of proteins form a transcriptional activation complex. 2. 2. α-Cell signalling in glucose-regulated glucagon secretion

    Författare :Qian Yu; Anders Tengholm; Erik Gylfe; Sebastian Barg; David W Piston; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Islets; glucagon; insulin; somatostatin; ATP; cAMP; Ca2 ; GHB; oscillations; α-cell; β-cell; δ-cell; Medical Cell Biology; Medicinsk cellbiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Glucagon is a blood glucose-elevating hormone released from α-cells in the islets of Langerhans during hypoglycaemia. Glucagon is critical for glucose homeostasis and inappropriate regulation of its secretion underlies both impaired counter-regulation of hypoglycaemia and chronic hyperglycaemia in diabetes patients. 3. 3. Cell fate specification by Ras-mediated cell signalling in C. elegans

    Författare :Teresa Tiensuu; Simon Tuck; Benjamin Podbilewicz; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Cell and molecular biology; cell signalling; Ras; vulva precursor cell; lin-25; sur-2; lin-1; cell fate specification; Mediator; vulva induction; transcriptional regulation; Cell- och molekylärbiologi; Cell and molecular biology; Cell- och molekylärbiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Induction of vulval fates in the C. elegans hermaphrodite is mediated by a conserved RTK/Ras/MAP kinase signalling pathway, in which the core components can be placed into a linear genetic and biochemical pathway. However, the events that occur downstream of this pathway are not yet well understood. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Insulin signalling in human adipocytes : mechanisms of insulin resistance in type 2 diabetes

    Författare :Anna Danielsson; Peter Strålfors; Fredrik Nyström; Lena Stensson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; adipocytes; type 2 diabetes; insulin; insulin resistance; insulin signalling; phosphorylation; insulin receptor substrate 1; feedback control; Medical cell biology; Medicinsk cellbiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Prevalensen av fetma ökar drastiskt i stora delar av världen och utgör en stor riskfaktor för att utveckla insulinresistens och typ 2 diabetes. Fettväven kan bli mycket stor om för mycket energi tas upp av kroppen. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Cross-regulation between TGFβ/BMP Signalling and the metabolic LKB1 pathway

    Författare :Erna Raja; Aristidis Moustakas; Tomi Mäkelä; Uppsala University Faculty of Medicine Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; cell signalling; TGFbeta; BMP; LKB1; AMPK; Molekylär cellbiologi; Molecular Cellbiology;

    Sammanfattning : Cell signalling determines physiological responses to many cellular stimuli and environmental changes. The transforming growth factor-beta (TGFβ)/bone morphogenetic protein (BMP) signalling pathways begin by binding of ligand to the heterodimeric receptor complex, followed by activation of Smads that translocate to the nucleus to regulate transcription of genes that further mediate cellular physiology.
