16. Electrocardiographic Imaging of Myocardial Ischemia, Infarction and Scar: Correlation with SPECT, MRI and Arrhythmias
Sammanfattning : This thesis focuses on the development and testing of electrocardiographic (ECG) methods to diagnose and characterize myocardial ischemia, infarction and fibrosis (scar). The goal is to provide improved decision support to physicians regarding the optimal selection of patients for two costly, invasive therapies – percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) for patients with acute myocardial infarction (MI) and implantable cardioverter defibrillators (ICDs) for patients with heart failure and reduced left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF). 17. Time dependency in the protection from myocardial injury after myocardial ischemia and reperfusion : new insights from experimental studies with the ultrashort-acting calcium antagonist clevidipine
Sammanfattning : Interruption of the coronary blood flow causes myocardial ischemia and, after a critical time period, myocardial cell death. Accordingly, early reinstitution of arterial blood flow is necessary to minimize the damage. LÄS MER
18. Echocardiography in myocardial infarction : aspects on diastolic function and evaluation by cardiovascular magnetic resonance imaging
Sammanfattning : Background: Echocardiography is routinely used to evaluate patients with known or suspected myocardial infarction (MI). Cardiovascular magnetic resonance imaging (CMR) provides the ability to quantify myocardial infarction size (IS), and to establish an underlying diagnosis in MI cases with nonobstructive coronary arteries (MINOCA). 19. Development of a Mobile Tomographic Gamma Camera Based on Ectomography - Cardiotom
Sammanfattning : Successful treatment of myocardial infarction requires anearly and accurate diagnosis. Recent studies have shown thatacute myocardial scintigraphy has a high predictive value forprognosis of myocardial events. Three dimensional (3D)perfusion data obtained with SPECT are however very rare in theemergency department (ED). LÄS MER
20. Cardiac hypertrophy : transcription patterns, hypertrophic progression and extracellular signalling
Sammanfattning : Background: The aim of this thesis was to study transcription patterns and extracellular signalling of the hypertrophic heart to better understand the mechanisms initiating, controlling and maintaining cardiac hypertrophy.Cardiac hypertrophy is a risk factor for cardiovascular morbidity and mortality.
