1. Electrocardiographic Imaging of Myocardial Ischemia, Infarction and Scar: Correlation with SPECT, MRI and Arrhythmias
Sammanfattning : This thesis focuses on the development and testing of electrocardiographic (ECG) methods to diagnose and characterize myocardial ischemia, infarction and fibrosis (scar). The goal is to provide improved decision support to physicians regarding the optimal selection of patients for two costly, invasive therapies – percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) for patients with acute myocardial infarction (MI) and implantable cardioverter defibrillators (ICDs) for patients with heart failure and reduced left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF). Sammanfattning : This thesis evaluates the safety and efficacy of cryoablation in supraventricular tachyarrhythmias. In Study I, the acute and long-term outcome of cryoablation therapy of typical atrioventricular nodal reentrant tachycardia (AVNRT) was studied in a large series of patients (n=312). LÄS MER
Sammanfattning : This doctoral thesis is comprised of five parts which deal with different signal processing problems in ECG-based characterization of atrial arrhythmias. Such characterization requires that the ventricular activity has first been cancelled in the ECG. LÄS MER
4. Assessing Symptom Burden and Health-Related Quality of Life in patients living with arrhythmia and ASTA : Arrhythmia-Specific questionnaire in Tachycardia and Arrhythmia
Sammanfattning : Background: Health-Related Quality of Life (HRQOL) can be negatively affected in patients living with arrhythmias and many patients experience a pronounced symptom burden. The arrhythmia can cause both uncertainty and limitations, including interference with work, reluctance to perform and plan for leisure activities and leading to self-imposed restrictions in daily life situations. Sammanfattning : Cardiac arrhythmias are an important cause of mortality and morbidity in patients with cardiac diseases. Sudden death due to ventricular tachycardia and fibrillation (VT/VF) in the setting of acute myocardial infarction (AMI) and heart failure (HF) is a frequent cause of premature death. LÄS MER
