  1. 16. On Efficient Modelling of Wheel-Rail Contact in Vehicle Dynamics Simulation

    Författare :Matin Shahzamanian Sichani; Mats Berg; Roger Enblom; Asier Alonso; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; wheel-rail contact; non-elliptic contact; rail vehicle dynamics; rolling contact; vehicle-track interaction; wheel-rail damage; Järnvägsgruppen - Fordonsteknik; Järnvägsgruppen - Fordonsteknik; Järnvägsgruppen - Tribologi; The KTH Railway Group - Tribology; Vehicle and Maritime Engineering; Farkostteknik;

    Sammanfattning : The wheel-rail contact is at the core of all research related to vehicletrackinteraction. This tiny interface governs the dynamic performanceof rail vehicles through the forces it transmits and, like any high stressconcentration zone, it is subjected to serious damage phenomena. LÄS MER

  2. 17. Suspended forestry machines for sustainable forestry

    Författare :Abbos Ismoilov; Ulf Sellgren; Kjell Andersson; Viktor Berbyuk; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Machine Design; Maskinkonstruktion;

    Sammanfattning : Cut-to-length (CTL) logging is a mechanized two-machine solution. The harvester processes treestems into smaller logs and a forwarder transports the logs from the logging site to a landing areaaccessible by trucks. LÄS MER

  3. 18. Assessment of crosswind performance of buses

    Författare :Magnus Juhlin; Annika Stensson Trigell; Carsten Proppe; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; crosswind; buses; steering feel; directional stability; subjective; objective; aerodynamic load; Vehicle engineering; Farkostteknik;

    Sammanfattning : When driving a vehicle on the road, the driver has to compensate continuously for small directional deviations from the desired course due to disturbances such as crosswinds, road irregularities and unintended driver inputs. These types of deviations have a tiring effect on the driver and should therefore be minimised. LÄS MER

  4. 19. On the Influence of Rail Vehicle Parameters on the Derailment Process and its Consequences

    Författare :Dan Brabie; Evert Andersson; Johan Oscarsson; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; train; railway; rail vehicle; accident; incident; derailment; bogie design; simulation; wheel; sleeper; impact; Vehicle engineering; Farkostteknik;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis aims at systematically studying the possibilities of minimising devastatingconsequences of high-speed derailments by appropriate measures and features in thetrain design, including the running gear. The course of events immediately afterderailments is studied with respect to whether the train stays upright and close to thetrack centre line or deviates laterally with probably serious consequences. 5. 20. On Derailment-Worthiness in Rail Vehicle Design : Analysis of vehicle features influencing derailment processes and consequences

    Författare :Dan Brabie; Evert Andersson; Roderick A Smith; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; derailment; bogie design; wheel-sleeper impact; simulation; deviation; vehicle inter-connection; guidance mechanism; substitute guidance; articulated train; railway safety; Vehicle engineering; Farkostteknik;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis aims at systematically studying the possibilities of minimizing devastating consequences of high-speed rail vehicle derailments by appropriate measures and features in the train design including the running gear. Firstly, an empirical database is established containing as much relevant information as possible of past incidents and accidents that have occurred at substantial running speeds due to mechanical failure close to the interface between the running gear and the track.
