16. On Efficient Modelling of Wheel-Rail Contact in Vehicle Dynamics Simulation
Sammanfattning : The wheel-rail contact is at the core of all research related to vehicletrackinteraction. This tiny interface governs the dynamic performanceof rail vehicles through the forces it transmits and, like any high stressconcentration zone, it is subjected to serious damage phenomena. LÄS MER
17. Suspended forestry machines for sustainable forestry
Sammanfattning : Cut-to-length (CTL) logging is a mechanized two-machine solution. The harvester processes treestems into smaller logs and a forwarder transports the logs from the logging site to a landing areaaccessible by trucks. LÄS MER
18. Assessment of crosswind performance of buses
Sammanfattning : When driving a vehicle on the road, the driver has to compensate continuously for small directional deviations from the desired course due to disturbances such as crosswinds, road irregularities and unintended driver inputs. These types of deviations have a tiring effect on the driver and should therefore be minimised. LÄS MER
19. On the Influence of Rail Vehicle Parameters on the Derailment Process and its Consequences
Sammanfattning : This thesis aims at systematically studying the possibilities of minimising devastatingconsequences of high-speed derailments by appropriate measures and features in thetrain design, including the running gear. The course of events immediately afterderailments is studied with respect to whether the train stays upright and close to thetrack centre line or deviates laterally with probably serious consequences. 20. On Derailment-Worthiness in Rail Vehicle Design : Analysis of vehicle features influencing derailment processes and consequences
Sammanfattning : This thesis aims at systematically studying the possibilities of minimizing devastating consequences of high-speed rail vehicle derailments by appropriate measures and features in the train design including the running gear. Firstly, an empirical database is established containing as much relevant information as possible of past incidents and accidents that have occurred at substantial running speeds due to mechanical failure close to the interface between the running gear and the track.
