11. Modelling of Factors Influencing Foot Ankle Responses and Injuries in Car Crashes
Sammanfattning : Foot and ankle injuries in frontal car collisions are believed to be caused mainly by occupant contact with the floor and toepan, occupant interaction with the pedals, and the lower leg being deformed between the floor and knee bolster. A better understanding of the causes of foot and ankle injuries is required to design cars for improved safety of the legs. LÄS MER
12. Fundamentals of a Methodology for Predictive Design Analysis
Sammanfattning : The rapid development of computer-based design analysis tools and methods such as the finite element method (FEM) within computational structural mechanics (CSM), computational fluid dynamics (CFD), and multi-body systems (MBS) during recent decades has fundamentally changed the way in which products are designed and developed. Among the many advantages observed in industrial practice, one can mention improved understanding of product properties and behavior, the possibility to optimize critical design parameters and to optimize parts as well as the entire product at a system level, the possibility to explore a design space during the synthesis activity, and a decrease of the need for physical testing and thus of the number of physical prototypes needed. 13. Dynamic Train-Turnout Interaction – Mathematical Modelling, Numerical Simulation and Field Testing
Sammanfattning : Two models for simulation of dynamic interaction between train and turnout are developed. The first one is derived using a commercial software for dynamics of multi-body systems. LÄS MER
14. Numerical simulation of crack growth and wear in rails
Sammanfattning : Wear and rolling contact fatigue (RCF) of rails are huge problems for the railway industry with increased world-wide occurrence during the last decades. It is, therefore, of high interest to develop tools for the prediction of wear and RCF which can be used to estimate rail life. LÄS MER
15. The Mirroring Immersed Boundary Method - Modeling Fluids with Moving and Interacting Bodies
Sammanfattning : The detailed fluid flow around arbitrary, moving, interacting and deforming bodies is both complex and poorly understood and the commercial simulation tools simulating such flows are computationally to demanding. Hence, a new fast and accurate method for simulating complex multi-body flows is required. LÄS MER
