21. Surface energy exchange and land-atmosphere interactions of Arctic and subarctic tundra ecosystems under climate change
Sammanfattning : The surface energy balance determines the functioning of any ecosystem on the Earth but is still poorly understood in Arctic and subarctic biomes. In a dynamic system, such as the Earth’s climate, any change in its characteristics modifies the exchange of energy, water, and greenhouse gases between the surface and the atmosphere. LÄS MER
22. Water and alkali salts in the hydrating and hardened green cement-based materials: Hydration process, moisture content and transport
Sammanfattning : Reducing CO2 emissions in the production of cementitious binder is the most effective way to decrease the environmental impact of the construction industry, so a large amount of supplementary cementitious materials (SCMs) has been used in the green concrete. Both the SCMs and alkali salts in binders influence the hydration process and the structure in hardened cement-based materials. LÄS MER
23. Evaluating building envelopes for energy efficient buildings : Energy- and moisture performance considering future climate change
Sammanfattning : Buildings account for a signifi cant proportion of the energy use thatgenerates greenhouse gases and consequently drives the ongoing climatechange. As the population of the world increases, the need for buildingsincreases, while the energy use needs to decrease. LÄS MER
24. Impacts of Regional Climate Change on Swedish Forests: An Evaluation Using Process-based Regional Ecosystem Modelling Approach
Sammanfattning : The overall aim of this thesis was to provide a representative estimate of the potential impacts of climate change and increased atmospheric CO2 concentrations on Swedish forest ecosystems and the key ecosystem services they provide. In order to achieve this task, fi rst LPJ-GUESS, a process-based regional ecosystem modelling framework, was applied to explore how possible shifts in climatic zones according to a range of regional climate scenarios may lead to changes in the tree species distribution and composition, net primary productivity (NPP) and carbon sequestration capacity of potential natural ecosystems on species level and at the regional scale. 25. Active friction control by using CO2 and moisture
Sammanfattning : Nowadays the demand for intelligent control of tribological interactions is strongly increasing in various applications. We often strive to minimize friction but there are also many situations where high friction is desirable. In some cases, something in between, i.e. LÄS MER
