  1. 21. Deciphering conformational ensembles and communication pathways in biomolecules

    Författare :Annie M. Westerlund; Lucie Delemotte; Erik Lindahl; Kresten Lindorff-Larsen; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Molecular dynamics; Clustering; Machine learning; Network analysis; Calmodulin; KCNQ1; Biological Physics; Biologisk fysik;

    Sammanfattning : Life is constructed by small building blocks called cells. Proteins are the biomolecules within these cells which carry out different functions. Proteins located in the cell membrane, for example, allow for the transport of ions and small molecules, as well as communication, across the cell membrane. LÄS MER

  2. 22. Shining light on unknown function proteins

    Författare :Riccardo Diamanti; Martin Högbom; Hans-Petter Hersleth; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; proteins; membrane proteins; metalloproteins; biochemistry; metabolism; biokemi; Biochemistry;

    Sammanfattning : The study of protein structure and function is a fundamental step for understanding biological systems and for creating a solid ground for future drug development. Despite the development of novel ground-breaking biochemical and bioinformatical tools in the last decades, most proteins found in nature still have unknown assigned function. LÄS MER

  3. 23. ATP-Binding-Cassette Transporters in Biliary Efflux and Drug-Induced Liver Injury

    Författare :Jenny M. Pedersen; Per Artursson; Christel A. S. Bergström; Stefan Oswald; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; ABC transport protein; Pgp; P-glycoprotein; ABCB1; BCRP; breast cancer resistance protein; ABCG2; MRP2; multidrug resistance-associated protein 2; ABCC2; BSEP; bile salt export pump; ABCB11; sandwich cultured human hepatocytes; SCHH; drug-induced liver injury; DILI; multivariate data analysis; OPLS; Galenisk farmaci; Pharmaceutics;

    Sammanfattning : Membrane transport proteins are known to influence the absorption, distribution, metabolism, excretion and toxicity (ADMET) of drugs. At the onset of this thesis work, only a few structure-activity models, in general describing P-glycoprotein (Pgp/ABCB1) interactions, were developed using small datasets with little structural diversity. 4. 24. Application of Artificial Gel Antibodies for the Detection and Quantification of Proteins in Biological Fluids

    Författare :Nasim Ghasemzadeh; Fred Nyberg; Dom M. Desiderio; Uppsala universitet; []

    Sammanfattning : The molecular-imprinting method has previously been used for the synthesis of artificial gel antibodies, highly selective for various proteins. In present study, we have synthesized artificial gel antibodies against haemoglobin, albumin and different forms of growth hormone with the aim to develop a simple and rapid procedure to measure the concentration of these protein biomarkers in samples of clinical interest.
