Sammanfattning : The overall aim of this thesis was to gain further knowledge of the assessments, predictors of future sick leave and intervention with regard to early prevention of neck, shoulder and back disorders in nursing aides/assistant nurses working in the home-care service. 8. Falls, fractures and function. Focus on women with a distal forearm fracture
Sammanfattning : Falls and fractures in older people are a common and increasing health problem which causes physical, social and psychological problems for the individual and is costly to society. The aims of this thesis were to investigate accidental falls of patients aged 65 - 74 who attended an orthopedic emergency ward, to investigate reliability of the modified figure of eight (MFE) and compare it with other balance performance tests, to investigate whether patients with a distal forearm fracture exhibited risk factors for new falls and fractures, and to follow physical performance and evaluate health-related quality of life in women after a distal forearm fracture. Sammanfattning : Primary Sjögren´s syndrome (primary SS) is a systemic autoimmune rheumatic disease characterized by lymphocytic infiltrations in the exocrine glands leading to classic dryness complaints such as dry eyes and dry mouth. 10. Gait re-education in transfemoral amputees The training programme, gait analysis, oxygen consumption and coping
Sammanfattning : A gait re-education programme, combining physiotherapy with a psychologically conscious therapeutic approach, was applied to nine unilateral transfemoral amputees, whose amputation was caused by trauma or tumour. The participants trained once a week for a mean 10 months. The median age was 33 years (range 16– 51). LÄS MER
