6. Cotranslational protein biogenesis in Escherichia coli monitored by force profile analysis
Sammanfattning : Proteins are a diverse class of biomolecules that carry out many essential functions across all organisms. They can either be found in aqueous compartments or embedded in biological membranes of the cell and are called soluble or membrane proteins, respectively. LÄS MER
7. NMR diffusion studies on lyotropic liquid crystalline systems
Sammanfattning : The pulsed field gradient fourier transform nuclear magnetic resonance (PFG-FTNMR) method to measure translational diffusion coefficients in multicomponent systems has been applied to amphiphilic molecules forming liquid crystalline phases.By analyzing the concentration dependence of the diffusion coefficients of water and amphiphile in a micellar system of N,N-dimethyldodecy lamine oxide (DDAO) in water it was possible to conclude that the micelles formed were polydisperse in size and shape. 8. Lipid production from lignocellulosic material by oleaginous yeasts
Sammanfattning : Oleaginous yeasts are a potential lipid source for production of fuels, chemicals and food or feed and use of lignocellulosic biomass as feedstock is considered a sustainable approach. Pre-treatment of lignocellulose is required to release the major carbon sources, glucose, xylose and other sugars for lipid production by oleaginous yeasts, but also releases inhibitory compounds. 9. Bax and oxidized phospholipids - a deadly complex : Apoptotic protein-lipid assemblies studied by MAS NMR spectroscopy
Sammanfattning : Mitochondria are renowned for their vital role as cellular powerhouses because they provide ATP via cellular respiration. Additionally, these organelles also play an important role in other physiological processes, such as apoptosis. LÄS MER
10. Influence of strain, feed profile and cultivation technique on the lipid structure and membrane function in Escherichia coli
Sammanfattning : The phospholipid and fatty acids content of the Escherichiacoli membrane were investigated during changes of feed rate, cultivation technique and host strains.During continuous cultivation it was shown that the leakageof periplasmic protein to the medium had an optimum at 0.3 h-1,resulting in transport of 20% of the total recombinant product.
