1. Additive-Driven Improvements in Interfacial Properties and Processing of TMP-Polymer Composites
Sammanfattning : Efforts to address environmental concerns have resulted in new regulations designed to plan the reduction of plastic and synthetic polymer usage, necessitating the search for sustainable natural alternatives with comparable cost-effectiveness and mechanical performance. Thermomechanical pulp (TMP) fibres are one of the most affordable natural fibres that have no chemical refining in production, production have a high yield of 90-98% and TMP fibres have been demonstrated to improve the mechanical characteristics (strength, stiffness and toughness) of wood-polymer composites (WPCs) compared to the pure polymer. 2. Materials Design for Paper Electrodes : A Papermaking Perspective on Electrode Fabrication
Sammanfattning : The electrification and digitalization of our society has propelled the demand for energy storage solutions. High-end technologies have been developed to satisfy the requirements of demanding applications, such as electromobility and portable consumer electronics, which also increasingly find markets for less demanding applications. 3. Biobased carbon fibers from solution spun lignocellulosic precursors
Sammanfattning : Carbon fibers (CFs) have excellent mechanical properties and a low density, making themattractive as a reinforcing fiber in composites. The use of CFs is limited to high-end applications, since they are produced from an expensive fossil-based precursor via an energy-intensivemanufacturing process, explaining the need for cheaper CFs from renewables. 4. Evaluation of biosensors and flow cytometry as monitoring tools in lignocellulosic bioethanol production
Sammanfattning : The significant environmental impact of the current fossil fuel-based industry is a major concern for society. Consequently, various initiatives are being undertaken to establish a more sustainable industrial model. LÄS MER
5. Exploring different thermoplastics from lignocellulosic building blocks and monomers
Sammanfattning : The need to replace conventional fossil-based plastics is becoming more imperative. As climate change is more visibly affecting our society, employing non-sustainable resources to produce plastics is aggravating the problem. LÄS MER
