  1. 1. Lip-motion and speech biometrics in person recognition

    Författare :Maycel Isaac Faraj; Högskolan i Halmstad; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Audio-visual recognition; biometrics; Biometric recognition; Speaker verification; Speaker authentication; Person identification; Lip movements; Motion; Structure tensor; Orientation; Optical flow; Hidden Markov Model; Gaussian Markov Model; Lip-motion; Image analysis; Bildanalys;

    Sammanfattning : Biometric identification techniques are frequently used to improve security, e.g. in financial transactions, computer networks and secure critical locations. The purpose of biometric authentication systems is to verify an individual by her biological characteristics including those generating characterisitic behaviour. LÄS MER

    Författare :Staffan Morén; Maria Mani; Mats Holmström; Per-åke Lindestad; Göran Laurell; Magnus Becker; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Adult; Cleft Lip; Cleft Palate; Cross-Sectional Studies; Control Groups; Dysphonia; Follow-Up Studies; Humans; Nasal Obstruction; Nose Deformities; Otolaryngology; Quality of Life; Reconstructive Surgical Procedures methods; Retrospective Studies; Treatment Outcome; Voice Quality; Acoustic; Oto-Rhino-Laryngology; Oto-rhino-laryngologi;

    Sammanfattning : Cleft lip and palate (CLP) is the most common craniofacial malformation. Even after repair of the cleft there may be persistent symptoms affecting speech, voice, nasal breathing, dentition, appearance and quality of life. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Unilateral Cleft Lip and Palate : Quality of Life and Nasal Form and Function among Adults

    Författare :Maria Mani; Mats Holmström; Valdemar Skoog; Anna Andlin-Sobocki; Magnus Becker; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; unilateral cleft lip and palate; quality of life; SF-36; nasal function; nasal breathing; nasolabial appearance; cleft width; long-term results; Plastic surgery; Plastikkirurgi; Plastikkirurgi; Plastic Surgery;

    Sammanfattning : Unilateral cleft lip and palate (UCLP) is a craniofacial malformation with functional and aesthetical impact on the face and the upper airways. The aims of the current thesis were to evaluate Quality of life (QoL) in adults treated for UCLP  (I), to objectively evaluate nasal form and function and to search for possible differences in residual nasal deformity and impairment of function between patients operated according to one-stage and two-stage palate closure (II) as well as to evaluate the relationship between professional and lay rating and patient satisfaction with nasolabial appearance (III) and to identify factors associated with lower levels of QoL and less satisfaction with nasal appearance among adults treated for UCLP (IV). 5. 5. Lip-motion biometrics for audio-visual identity recognition

    Författare :Maycel Isaac Faraj; Massimo Tistarelli; Högskolan i Halmstad; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Biometrics; Lip motion; Audio-visual signals; Speech recognition; Speaker recognition; Digit recognition; Image analysis; Bildanalys;

    Sammanfattning : Biometric recognition systems have been established as powerful security tools to prevent unknown users from entering high risk systems and areas. They are increasingly being utilized in surveillance and access management (city centers, banks, etc.) by using individuals' physical or biological characteristics. LÄS MER
