21. Transitions : a landscape approach to social and cultural changes in southern Mozambique 5000 BC-1000 AD
Sammanfattning : The discussion of interactions between foragers and farmers in southern Africa has conventionally been linked to the migrations of Bantu-speaking farmers and their associated material culture. Further, the transition from foraging to farming has typically been interpreted as a rapid replacement of the former lifestyle by the latter, allegedly superior socio-economic package. LÄS MER
22. Understanding molecular mechanisms of protein tyrosine kinases by molecular dynamics and free energy calculations
Sammanfattning : Background: Insulin receptor kinase (IRK) and Insulin-like growth factor 1 receptor kinase (IGF-1RK) are two important members in the large class of tyrosine kinase receptors. They play pivotalroles in the regulation of glucose homeostasis, cell proliferation, differentiation, motility, andtransformation. LÄS MER
23. Microscopic modelling of exciton-exciton interactions in atomically thin semiconductors
Sammanfattning : The successful isolation and characterization of the technologically promising material graphene in 2004 has spurred huge interest in other two-dimensional materials. Transition-metal dichalcogenides (TMDs), being one such class of materials, display intriguing properties from both a fundamental and techno- logical point of view. LÄS MER
24. A palaeolimnological study of the anthropogenic impact on dissolved organic carbon in South Swedish lakes
Sammanfattning : During the past three decades, increases have been observed in dissolved organic carbon (DOC) concentrations and colour in the surface waters of lakes and rivers in parts of Europe and North America, raising concern about the effects on the quality of aquatic environments with consequences for biodiversity, resource availability and recreational use. Various hypotheses have been put forward to explain the recent increases in DOC concentration and numerous studies have been published linking them to declining anthropogenic atmospherically deposited sulphur. 25. Use and governance of non-wood forest products in transition and market economies : case studies in Ukraine and Sweden
Sammanfattning : Globally, forests and woodlands provide a large variety of non-wood forest products (NWFPs) as a resource base for regional and local development in rural landscapes. The role of NWFPs differs in time and space, and is often linked to the socio-economic context. LÄS MER
