21. Preschool staff’s working conditions and professional well-being in contexts with high proportions of early second language learners
Sammanfattning : This thesis explored the working conditions and professional well-being of preschool staff in Sweden, particularly in settings with a high proportion of early second language learners (L2 learners). The thesis is timely and significant, considering the growing diversity in Swedish preschools and the increasing presence of L2 learners. LÄS MER
22. Procedural and Declarative Memory in Children with Developmental Disorders of Language and Literacy
Sammanfattning : The procedural deficit hypothesis (PDH) posits that a range of language, cognitive and motor impairments associated with specific language impairment (SLI) and developmental dyslexia (DD) may be explained by an underlying domain-general dysfunction of the procedural memory system. In contrast, declarative memory is hypothesized to remain intact and to play a compensatory role in the two disorders. LÄS MER
23. Genes to remember : imaging genetics of hippocampus-based memory functions
Sammanfattning : In the field of imaging genetics, brain function and structure are used as intermediate phenotypes between genes and cognition/diseases to validate and extend findings from behavioral genetics. In this thesis, three of the strongest candidate genes for episodic memory, KIBRA, BDNF, and APOE, were examined in relation to memory performance and hippocampal/parahippocampal fMRI blood-oxygen level-dependent (BOLD) signal. 24. Fearful attention : Investigating event-related potentials in spider phobia
Sammanfattning : Previous studies showed that emotional pictures capture attention. Further, this effect was decreased by manipulating spatial attention. In contrast, studies produced mixed findings for effects of perceptual load on attention to emotional pictures. Emotional pictures can be phobic or nonphobic. LÄS MER
25. Coordinated Frequency Control Between Interconnected AC/DC Systems
Sammanfattning : With ambitions of reducing the environmental pollution, power systems integrate larger shares of Renewable Energy Sources (RES) to phase out conventional thermal and nuclear generators. Since RES (such as wind and solar power) are connected to the grid through power electronics devices, they do not inherently contribute to system inertia. LÄS MER
