21. Querying RDF Schema Views of Relational Databases
Sammanfattning : The amount of data found on the web today and its lack of semantics makes it increasingly harder to retrieve a particular piece of information. With the Resource Description Framework (RDF) every piece of information can be annotated with properties describing its semantics. LÄS MER
22. Signals and Noise in Complex Biological Systems
Sammanfattning : In every living cell, millions of different types of molecules constantly interact and react chemically in a complex system that can adapt to fluctuating environments and extreme conditions, living to survive and reproduce itself. The information required to produce these components is stored in the genome, which is copied in each cell division and transferred and mixed with another genome from parent to child. LÄS MER
23. Regolith Properties of Mercury Derived from Observations and Modelling
Sammanfattning : The properties of Mercury's regolith have been investigated at optical and near-infrared wavelengths with high-resolution imaging, photometric, and spectroscopic observations with the Swedish Vacuum Solar Telescope and the Nordic Optical Telescope. A new global optical map at a spatial resolution of 200 km shows that the well known (from Mariner 10) and poorly known hemispheres are indistinguishable with respect to the distribution, number density, and morphological parameters of bright albedo features. 24. Design and Stability of Cu(In,Ga)Se2-Based Solar Cell Modules
Sammanfattning : Cu(In,Ga)Se2 (CIGS) is one of the most promising semiconductor compounds for large-scale production of efficient, low-cost thin film solar cells, and several research institutes have announced their plans for CIGS production lines. But for the CIGS technology to become a commercial success, a number of issues concerning manufacturability, product definition, and long-term stability require further attention. LÄS MER
25. On the labeling of Signal Constellations
Sammanfattning : The work in this thesis studies a simple model of a digital communication system in which the transmitter operates on a sequence of information bits by grouping them into blocks of m bits and mapping such blocks onto one out of M = 2m waveforms, which is transmitted over the channel. The receiver recovers the original message by demapping the transmitted signals disturbed by noise back to m-bit blocks using maximum-likelihood symbol detection. LÄS MER
