  1. 1. Isolated regional perfusion for metastases of malignant melanoma - Clinical and experimental studies

    Författare :Roger Olofsson; Göteborgs universitet; Göteborgs universitet; Gothenburg University; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Malignant melanoma; Uveal melanoma; Isolated limb perfusion; Isolated hepatic perfusion; Immunology; Exosomes;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Isolated regional perfusion is a treatment option mainly for localized metastatic disease. The principle idea is to surgically isolate a region of the body and connect the circulation to a heart-lung machine. A high concentration of a chemotherapeutic agent is then delivered to the tumour, while systemic toxicity is avoided. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Immunological effects of isolated regional perfusion in malignant melanoma

    Författare :Junko Johansson; Göteborgs universitet; Göteborgs universitet; Gothenburg University; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Melanoma; Isolated regional perfusion; ILP; IHP; Melphalan; Immunogenic cell death; T cells; Monocytes; ISG;

    Sammanfattning : Malignant melanoma patients with metastatic disease confined to the limbs or liver may be treated with hyperthermic isolated regional perfusion with a chemotherapeutic agent, most commonly melphalan. This procedure enables much higher tissue concentrations of the chemotherapeutic agent compared with systemic administration. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Development of individualized surgical treatments for malignant melanoma

    Författare :Valerio Belgrano; Göteborgs universitet; Göteborgs universitet; Gothenburg University; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Melanoma; sentinel node; isolated limb perfusion; immune-humanized xenograft mouse models; translational research;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Cutaneous melanoma is a malignancy with an increasing incidence worldwide, especially in northern Europe. The aim of this thesis is to scrutinize the results achieved by traditional surgery and the opportunities offered by translational research for the more advanced stages of the disease. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Desmoid tumors. New aspects on diagnostic procedures, treatment and outcome

    Författare :Mikael Dalén; Göteborgs universitet; Göteborgs universitet; Gothenburg University; []
    Nyckelord :desmoid; fibromatosis; surgery; radiotherapy; chemotherapy; statistics; imaging; studies; cytology; biopsy; pathology;

    Sammanfattning : Desmoid tumor (aggressive fibromatosis) is a rare, benign fibroblastic/myofibroblasticneoplasm that originates from musculoaponeurotic structures. It never metastasizes but locallygrows aggressively and infiltrates surrounding tissues. The treatment of choice has beensurgery. However, local recurrences are frequent. LÄS MER
