  1. 1. Impact of nitrogen deposition on carbon stocks in coniferous forest soils : insights from experiments with low and high nitrogen addition rates

    Författare :Benjamin Forsmark; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []

    Sammanfattning : Nutrient limitations constrain the capacity for northern coniferous forests to capture and store carbon (C). Nitrogen (N) deposition may enhance tree productivity in these forests, but it remains uncertain how the storage of C in soils is responding to changes in N availability, and how limitations by other elements, such as phosphorus (P), develop in response to N enrichment. 2. 2. Functional Characterization of the Yeast Tumour Suppressor Homologue Sro7p

    Författare :Annabelle Forsmark; Göteborgs universitet; Göteborgs universitet; Gothenburg University; []
    Nyckelord :Yeast; protein sorting; protein secretion; L 2 GL; tumour suppressor; SRO7; SRO77; ENA1; exocytosis; post-Golgi vesicles; ART5; E3 adaptor; ubiquitylation; ATLGL1; ATLGL2;

    Sammanfattning : Correct targeting of newly synthesized proteins to appropriate domains of the cell membrane is crucial to cellular architecture, polarity and function, making it no surprise that many proteins of the secretory machinery are conserved throughout evolution. This work presents a functional characterisation of the Saccharomyces cerevisiae cell polarity protein and tumour suppressor homologue, Sro7p. LÄS MER

  3. 3. The influence of climate and permafrost on catchment hydrology

    Författare :Emma Johansson; Georgia Destouni; Sean Carey; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Hydrology; Periglacial; Greenland; Forsmark; Talik; Permafrost Hydrology; Hydrology; hydrologi;

    Sammanfattning : The cycling of water in the landscape is influenced by climate change on different time scales and in different directions regarding warming or cooling trends. Along with a changing climate, also the landscape and subsurface conditions, such as permafrost extent, may change in a long-term perspective. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : This thesis focuses on the chemical and isotopic features of groundwater residing in the upper 1.2 km of sparsely fractured crystalline bedrock of the Baltic Shield. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Applications of ocean transport modelling

    Författare :Hanna Corell; Kristofer Döös; Björn Kjerfve; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; ocean transport modelling; connectivity; particle-tracking; sediment transport; Forsmark; marine protected areas; MPA; stream functions; heat flux; wind forcing; Carcinus maenas; atmosfärvetenskap och oceanografi; Atmospheric Sciences and Oceanography;

    Sammanfattning : The advective motion of seawater governs the transport of almost everything, animate or inanimate, present in the ocean and those lacking the ability to outswim the currents have to follow the flow. This makes modelling of advective ocean transports a powerful tool in various fields of science where a displacement of something over time is studied. LÄS MER
